LTCC grooves to the beat of 3-day outdoor music festival
By Kathryn Reed
One day SnowGlobe might legitimately be used in the same sentence of Woodstock or Day on the Green. More than 9,000 people – mostly younger than 30 – swayed, danced, bounced and moved to the sounds of bands like their parents’ and grandparents’ generations did decades ago.
Only this music isn’t rock ’n’ roll. It’s techno. It’s hip-hop. It’s crunk. It’s a whole lot of drum machine and bass. Sometimes a band isn’t even on stage – it’s a disc jockey putting the sounds together in a mix that becomes original music. They are artists in their own right, not like the disc jockey putting someone else’s song on the radio.
It’s got a beat that makes everyone listening want to dance. It’s a party. It’s people having fun.
South Tahoe evolves
Kindred Murillo has a smile on her face as she surveys the crowd. She is used to this age group. After all, she is president of Lake Tahoe Community College; which is doubling as a concert venue for two more nights.
“It’s better than I expected,” she said looking at a line of people waiting to get in.
On the job less than six months, she is doing something no one in the history of the 30-plus-year-old college has done – turning the campus into a music venue. If everyone determines SnowGlobe was successful, Murillo envisions the college being more of a partner in the future.
She’s well aware of the publicity the event has already brought to the campus and hopes to be able to capitalize on it in the future.
The college is getting about $10,000 from the concert promoters for use of the site. The city will get about the same from the business license fee and reimbursement of hard costs like overtime for employees.
It’s a potential shot in the arm to local businesses, too – money in pockets of hotels, vacation rental owners, and other businesses that are smart enough to tap into the needs of this crowd. Like food when the festival is over. Souvenirs to take home. Warm clothes for these flatlanders.
It was South Lake Tahoe City Manager Tony O’Rourke who shook his head a year ago when he heard the city did nothing on New Year’s Eve except pay police officers overtime to help patrol the Stateline casino corridor. His idea was give those twenty-somethings something to do and get them to open their wallets.
They are here and they are spending money. Three-day tickets cost about $150, with Saturday-only being $75.
Vendor Village is a tented area where jewelry, hats, glasses, clothes, leather goods and organic food are being old. On the outskirts of the shopping area is SpiritHoods. They sell those animal hats with long ears, so to speak, that can be scarves of sorts. At the concert they sell for $100 — $35 less than online or at their Los Angeles headquarters.
A slew of women and men have this style of hat on. They seem to be everywhere.
SnowGlobe is giving people who might usually stand around in the cold at Stateline on New Year’s Eve something to do other than question why they are standing around in the cold. It will give people who can stay out past 9pm on New Year’s Eve a place to be on the South Shore – which includes a fireworks show.
It’s about putting South Lake Tahoe on the map as a place to be this time of year that doesn’t involve being in a casino.
It may even be good business for the three marijuana dispensaries in South Tahoe.
With the smell of pot wafting between the three stages on opening night of the three-day event and no line for Sierra Nevada brew, it was obvious the drug of choice for this crowd is weed.
The cops are ignoring them. After all, it’s just an infraction in California – like getting a speeding ticket.
But South Lake Tahoe police officers make their presence known at the get-go. And SnowGlobe officials alerted their followers that undercover cops would be on the grounds, too.
“Their security handles everything,” Sgt. Shannon Laney told Lake Tahoe News as he watched people funnel in. “They bring the problems to us.”
It’s all about the music
Dillon Francis – on the Sierra stage – is who Robert Bunnett, 19, was most excited to see Thursday.
He and 14 friends made it a road trip from Los Angeles for three days of music. They are staying – all of them – in a one-room cabin. Usually it’s the LA-San Bernardino music fests they follow. The lineup and the opportunity to be in Tahoe for New Year’s led them north.
Even though Sherose Renck, 17, and Serena Gafford, 16, didn’t have to drive far, the best friends from Gardnerville are staying in a hotel overnight on the South Shore – going to SnowGlobe all three days.
They are moving to the beat of Stephan Jacobs who is making techno music on the Igloo stage. This is the biggest music event either one has been to.
It’s the atmosphere that captivates Renck. “I love the energy,” she says.
With goggles on her forehead, Lorene Carlston of Santa Cruz waits to get in. She’s most excited to see Pretty Lights, one of the headliners on the SnowGlobe stage Dec. 29.
Frustrated with the people who work at the Horizon casino in Stateline for not knowing where the shuttle to LTCC was, this led her and a friend to a hitch a ride.
At 28 and her friend 31, she says, “We find it to be a young crowd.”
Despite their hiccup, most people were getting to LTCC via the 30 buses bringing them to and from LTCC for free.
Eran Afmer, 34, of Seattle is a bit disappointed with no fresh snow, especially considering she left powder in the Cascades. Still, she’s excited to be in Tahoe – a first for her – with friends from various states. They rented a huge house for the long weekend.
South Lake Tahoe local Anthony Davis put in six hours volunteering at the event Thursday.
“I did it so I can get a feel for the event and know what it’s all about before I judge it,” Davis said. “I’m liking it. I like the vibe.”

As someone who lives in Pioneer Village…I’ll just say that it is not a welcome thing with all the noise.
I think its great that we’re looking at ways to bring in new events. Instead of always going with the same-o same-o I appreciate people thinking outside the box.
But:
You should have seen my daughter’s facebook last night with comments from her 13-14 yr old friends. Everyone could hear the concert from their home if they lived in Black Bart, Sierra Tract and Pioneer Village. I could hear it and I dread the sounds on New Years (hey, I’m old, I’m in bed by 12!)
I had a young man walking in my neighborhood (Black Bart) last night, looking for Carson Street. It was 11 pm. I steered him in the right direction. Had I not been outside at that time who knows where he would have ended up?
I worry about the Community Field that isn’t cheap. How is it going to hold up? I had thought they’d set up on the parking lots of the college.
So, I enjoy our town and the thinkers trying to make it better. So, if this concert series returns, lets take what we learned this year and think it through so its good for all.
Happy New Year!
It wasn’t much fun to listen to the loud thumping all evening long from my house. We areDreading the next 2 nights. I guess the impact on the people who live around here wasn’t important. What a shame.
I can hear the music but I do think the town needed a shot in the arm, 3 nights of this music is a small price to pay to help our local business out, take a look out there people no snow!!!!!!!!
I can hear it at my house, and also am attending. I think it’s tolerable for 3 nights, as long as the city reaps benefits from it, heck, I put up with this amount of noise on a regular basis from nightly rentals near me, and I don’t know if those owners even pay their TOT!
Saw a lot of taxis staying busy, due to the no parking on site, they must be doing good ;)
Good on ya Murillo, O’Rourke and my personal favorite Anthony Davis.
Can’t wait to get my SpiritHood!
This is the wrong location for such an extreme decibel. It is too close to residential areas. It is causing my house to shake. There is the danger of physical damage to structures and individuals unless the city can make the promoters of the event pay attention to the concerns that the city has already expressed about the decibel levels that are getting beyond the venue’s boundaries. Is this a liability that the city as permit grantor can afford? Weren’t the fields that this event is on constructed with tax favored bonds of the JPA? Does the use of these fields by a for-profit business put the tax favored nature of those bonds at risk? This is certainly a learning experience but not one that should be supported by our community college.
I live a mile away and my windows were shaking until 11:00pm and my two young children didn’t get to sleep until after that. I completely support an event of this size and understand it is bringing our local businesses money, but I think it is outrageous to place it right in the middle of several residential neighborhoods who have to work in the early morning hours. I can’t even imagine the sound level of the neighborhoods right next to the stages.
I don’t understand how an event can purchase a permit from the city to be “exempt” from sound ordinance laws next to residential neighborhoods.
We live in the Al Tahoe neighborhood and the noise was booming and vibrating through every room of our house. There was no were to run. No where to hide. No escaping the boom boom boom from the show. While I think it’s a great idea to bring an event like to the area, I do think the location needs to be SERIOUSLY thought over again. It was very unpleasant to have the permeating noise in our home like that. Every single noise ordinance had to of been violated. If we wanted to experience the show in full technicolor like that, we would have attend it in person. To have it be in our faces like that while at home with all windows and doors closed, and a good distance away from it, not good. Something very different needs to done if they want to bring this back next year. Not looking forward to the next two nights.
The cab drivers, there doing good ya say?
I don’t know… from where I’m sittin these people don’t seem to be big tippers, nor do they seem to be the big art purchasers and dinner going out-ers and family entertainment types that the community says it is marketing to.
In fact, from where I am sittin, I would think that them art purchaser types and family “out seeing the sites” might feel a bit outta place – but i could be wrong. I am pretty far away so all I can see is what is in my minds eye …
I guess it’s okay to disturb the peace and encourage drug use if the City is behind it?
I am with you Stacy, boom boom boom along with the vibrating windows is going through my head right now while I am at work. I also wanted somewhere to run last night, thought I would go insane with that boom boom boom! I also agree with Joe and Parker, this crowd is spending their money only at the vendor booths only inside the event. Most of them are sleeping in their cars from what I can tell. I spoke to a city employee last night and they said they would meet with the producers today and try to get the noise level reduced by 25%, that won’t cut it at all and I am a mile away. It is insane to me that they are allowed to break every sound ordinance law possible that are in place to protect residential neighborhoods, but if you pay the city some moeny, it’s okay with our police department, who are also employed by the city? That is a head scratcher
I hope that Kathyrn Reed is right. Snowglobe should be just like Woodstock – a one time event that takes place on a farm – not between residential neighborhoods. That stage is as big as the stage at Harvey’s Summer Music Festival. So is the sound system. Wouldn’t it be great if the noise didn’t get beyond the boundaries of the venue? The festival goers would really like the music then and those of us outside the venue boundaries would like it even more. If the college is going to partner with this event, the promoter needs to keep the sound system sized to the small area it’a permitted for.
that is not LTCC property
it is measure S city property
how much is the city getting paid ?
and where is that money going?
I was out and about last night
the taxi’s were not busy the
Amador Stage Line was busy
the rest of the partiers were walking
this event will go down in history
like the Opening day of Summer Party
Quit your bitchin, snowglobe has brought 9000 people to our community to spend money!
Dear Concerned,
I believe that you are missing the point. The being, most of are happy to see a large event such as this come to our community. Hooray! 9000 guests, great!
The problem is, the location. Where the show was held is not a casino corridor. It is a residential area. That means people LIVE there. They also sleep there. Their children are trying to not be frightened by the bone jarring boom boom boom going on for hours on end at inhumane decibels. I for one had a child up all night long in terrors over the INSANE level of noise and boom boom boom. I was rattled myself by 9pm! Geesh. Don’t be a dork Concerned.
It’s location, location, location. I don’t think it’s fair, or legal or even slightly smart to invade residents homes with this kind of noise and vibration pollution. Yes, I am riled up over this. Move this show next year to Camp Rich, Heavenly, the Horizon parking lot–something, somewhere else. Not in so many of our own backyards please!
I wasn’t even given a choice about this. I was forced to attend this show, in my own home, which is several miles away whether I wanted to attend or not. THAT, is the point Concerned.
Another thing that makes for head scratching is, if we had an outdoor party with with maybe, 30 guests and we had the music level set to 1/10th the decibel level of the Snowglobe festival, you can bet on it that the police will show up and make you turn down your music because one person from 4 doors down complained.
Somehow, this festival’s decibel level can invade closed up homes and cause major disruption to people’s peace for miles around and that is acceptable?
How is that supposed to be okay?
I swear I think I hear it now…
I love these comments about the noise, invading our homes, not legal, not fair. It all sounds like the vacation rentals I put up with year round. Neighborhoods are meant as places for people to live, raise families, relax and enjoy what they have worked for. Not for a select few to run businesses there and destroy the full time residence life. This town and county may be a resort spot, but it has become consumed with making money at the expense of the locals, those who live here full time and make South Tahoe their home.
Stacy, you better believe if I had a party with that noise, I would be shut down in 2 seconds flat and most likely fined a whole bunch on money!
Oh did you hear they are having their own fireworks show New Year’s? That ought to make for an interesting evening. I have lived here for 16 years and can’t “honker down” this year. Were you running around your house last night trying to shut your windows even more and that didn’t help?
I just looked on Snow Globe’s schedule on their website, looks like New Year’s Eve we will be hearing it until at least 1:00am, with the Glitch Mob.
They can’t move the EVENT out of the city to some place like Camp Rich, Heavenly, and the Horizon parking lot. Those place are FEDEARL Land or in NV and if they did that you wouldn’t get the….“smell of pot wafting between the three stages on opening night of the three-day event and no line for Sierra Nevada brew, it was obvious the drug of choice for this crowd is weed. The cops are ignoring them. After all, it’s just an infraction in California – like getting a speeding ticket.”
We are just supposed to be OK with all this, chill out, sit back and enjoy – NOT
Yes Steven,
I agree with you on all the other things we as residents have to put up with all year long from the irresponsible vacation home owners who rent their homes out to people who think they are in a resort instead of a residential neighborhood. The trash not properly taken of and strewn everywhere by coyotes, raccoons, dogs and bears, the noise, the parties until sunrise, the cars parked all over front lawns, including my own once, the 7 foot high flaming barbeques left unattended by drunken renters. I could go on and on but I felt I would leave that for another column, however, I do agree with you. It is getting harder and harder to live a peaceful week in this town, now this, the Snowglobe festival which too many of us are FORCED to attend while minding our own business in our own homes. This is beyond offensive to us and our neighbors.
Tahoe Local,
Yep, thought I must have left windows open but I was closed up tight. I found out today about the fireworks. That should be less permeating than the insane boom boom boom however. We can take solace in that. Perhaps that will be the cue that it is over and we can rest.
I feel like we’ve been sold out by our own city for them to have put this show up at LTCC. It would be a good idea if people could start to think of alternative locations for this event. It’s probably a really fun event for those attending at venue and I am all for bringing creative and fun new things to this town, but not at this cost to our peace at home. If we wanted to be at the show, we would have bought a ticket and attended. Somehow, I don’t think I am being unreasonable by asking that this show remove itself from my home.
Just pasted this off the City of SLT police website, funny, just # 8 in particular, and I like the blurb, please help to maintain a safe and healthy environment, did anyone show this to LTCC, the City or the SnowGlobe producers?
8. If you are having a NYE party, please keep your party orderly, whether at the hotel or at your residence, so it does not disturb your neighbors (415(2) Ca. penal code).
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department understands everyone wants to enjoy themselves.
Please help us maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
Thank you for your assistance, and have a happy New Year!
All the kids are twittering about partying on your lawns after the show. You might want to tweet them and tell them to get off your lawn.
I don’t know about you but I have a stereo system capable of drowning out any outside noise. John Coltrane can be surprisingly loud.
We too had similar experiences last night the Snowglobe show at our house.
I called the police dept. to make a complaint about the noise and it was suggested that if anyone was negatively affected by the noise to also call them 542-6100 to make a complaint. The more who do, the more something might be able to be done about it. They also said that if the upcoming shows put out too much noise to please call the police dept again and file another complaint. They said they need to hear from the community about this and they welcome your calls.
again our city council does something to benefit themselves and not the actual city of south lake.
it is even more shameful that we let a bunch of drug addicts chose Tahoe as their main destination this year.
these events are meant to attract teens that indulge in a wide choice of psychedelics and alcohol, weed is the least of our worries.
we need to stop promoting Tahoe as a DUB-STEP nation, our community is not willing to risk our way of life just for a few million dollars.
to trying to roll with it, the police dispatcher told me the same thing, who was going crazy with the noise too and she said at the police department they have thick walls! If they received a bunch of calls last night, shouldn’t they try and fix it tonight? I will call again tonight and the next night, thanks for posting the #. I feel sorry for them taking all the calls, perhaps they should all be forwarded to the Snow Globe’s producer’s personal cell phone or the City Manager’s cell phone
thought I would share what I received via email last night at 11:00pm from our City Manager, Tony O’Rourke, which I thought to say the least was less than brilliant!
Thanks for your message. We will work to lessen the event impact. Nonetheless, there will be an impact for an event with over 10000people. Can I buy you some earplugs? We will continue to address your concerns. Tony
Sent from my iPhoneny
My husband just came up with the perfect venue for SnowGlobe 2012…The Hole at Stateline! The noise would not affect neighborhoods, the kids could all stay in the Stateline area, plenty of parking with no shuttles needed, no damage to the fields, etc. And it’s still in the city limits within CA. Perfect! :)
Very negative experience outside, positive inside, check it out:
http://vimeo.com/34374365
I made my phone call to the police department. Thank you for the post. They did seem to be pleased to receive my complaint. Let’s all pull together and make our complaint phone calls. United we stand. It does feel strange however to be calling the police department to make a complaint against the City. Only in Tahoe…
Hey, Tahoe Local!! I had the same idea! Put the partying in The Hole!! Great minds think alike!
love the idea using the Hole at Stateline! Perfect! Why doesn’t your husband work at the city? :)
I know, I felt weird last night calling the police department who are employed by the city, and yes only in Tahoe, they said “the city approved the permit”, I said “aren’t you employed by the city and didn’t they get the police department involved in the process”? She couldn’t answer me, I will certainly attend the next city meeting
I have lived up here for 55 years and it’s you, NEW LOCALS, that are killing our town, you complain about everything, we want poeple up here that’s how we make a living. My god it’s 3 nights of noise get over it. You are the same people who want the lake closed to everyone but yourself, we need these kind of events and I’m sure there will be some talks after the event is over. I love this place and am so sick of everything being done getting trashed by the people who call themselfs locals, do something to help this community.
Well City of SLT mangement—-the people have spoken (actually shouted and screamed to be heard over the unacceptable volume). After Wednesdays sound check (more like sonic warfare), I predicted that this would blow up in the cities face if the volume, particularly the bass, was not significantly reduced and that is exactly what’s happening. No need to repeat what’s already been said. 30 year local, Bob Neidermeier, Stacy R. and others have expressed it well.
Our street, bordering the meadow across from the college, saw traffic like mid- summer last night. Cars parked everywhere so that people could walk across the meadow and get close to the festival. When they retuned, they were loud enogh to awaken my house guest who is ill. So much for sleeping! With all the dry grass and slash left over from last summers thining project in the meadow, I’m very concerned that a carelessly discarded cigarette or pipe contents could start a fire…especially with the wind.
Even acknowledging that this will benefit the economy (absent a fire or other serious unintended consequence), the city and college have prostituted themselves to the highest bidder and we’re the ones getting the clap. Do they really expect those of us within this events considerable sound footprint to just suck it up? Well, here’s another prediction:
The echos from this will reverberate in the cities ears long after the amplifiers have been packed up!
Yes i can hear the music at my house but it not that bad.Not all music festivals are out on a farm in woodstock ok .There are plenty of music festivals big and small in large cities and small towns across america and music is played loudly its a fact.Golden Gate Park puts on many diffrent festivals and you can hear it in the neighborhoods. Most large cities have the same thing many with large events in the middle of the city.If I would live near harveys I would expect to hear music this isn’t new or diffrent to south lake.Stateline will be packed as always but its good to see new events bring people to town.Label these kids how you want but there coming up to spend money and have fun just like thousands of people do for new years.I am glad ltcc and the city were able to attract a good event like this I don’t care if its techno rap or country its good for our economy to have events like this
I’m sure most of the loudest whiners are the same twerps that missed out on all the fun at the festival scenes in the 60’s 70’s~
Steve B, I used to live in a big city, LA and would frequent plenty of music festivals in my early 20’s. Which is the # 1 reason I moved to South Lake Tahoe 16 years ago. I moved far far away from the hussle and bussle in exchange for quiet mountain living
Real Local,
I for one am a bit taken aback by your holier than thou attitude and opinion that all newcomers fall into your box of absolutes you have placed them in. I have been here nearly 30 years, so I consider myself exempt from your attitude, but being a long time resident I too have some reservations when it comes to ‘newcomers’. However I do try hard to make them feel welcome and help them integrate into what a perceived Tahoe-acceptable mind-set is expected of them so they don’t get lambasted unexpectedly by attitudes like yours. Those ‘newcomers’ just might be your next co-worker, your next boss, your new daughter-in-law, your new neighbor who you just might need to call on in a crisis. I think most of us want the beaches open to all and shun the privatization that may fall upon us soon enough. But to lump everyone who doesn’t meet your 55 year qualification of Good and Approved Local is off putting, especially when our town is disintegrating into thin air and our city leaders feel the need to sell our simple peace off like this with the SnowGlobe festival. A more welcoming approach might attract more ‘newcomer’ residents rather than 2nd and 3rd home buyers who likewise rent those houses out to the highest bidding partygoers and we, the people who actually do live and work here and get up to go to our jobs where we are under paid and are always in fear of being laid off in favor of a seasonal contract worker from another country in the morning have to suffer because of it. Absolutes, don’t do much for creating a good work table for anyone.
I too miss the days when we had a community, where people lived and worked side by side instead of what we have now where it’s mostly dread of the next group of vacation renters who might be careless enough to burn down the place or at the least are going to be very disruptive for the length of their stay. Not to be confused with having a good time. I love to see vacationers have a great time here. It’s really a joy to see, but this Snowglobe thing, which you so succinctly stated we need to “get over it”, uh, no. I don’t think I should HAVE to get over it Sir or Madam. I do not live in a timeshare or a casino hotel. I live in a subdivision. A track of homes (see definition of home in dictionary). Intended for people to live, rest, build families, find shelter and peace. For that 3 day concert to infiltrate every cell of my body and that of my child while inside our own home a few miles away from the venue, no. I reject that wholeheartedly. “I” do not need to get over that. It is wrong. Plain and simple it is wrong for this to be happening.
My apologies as I’ve never met you, but I think a lot of us in this town are raw from this and that and years of lunacy within our leadership, the embarassing hole in the ground, etc… and now this 3 day festival is an invasive insult on top of everything else.
tahoelocal, Sent from his iphone. Beavercreek Colorado? Ear plugs. Joke?
geeper, no joke, really happened. I emailed him back telling him “no thanks” on the ear plugs, they wouldn’t tune out the heart pumping bass coming from LTCC.
I went online to the city site and sent in a “report a problem” and that is what I got back. I received a much better response from another employee who actually showed genuine concern for the residential neighborhoods, she actually took the time to walk around the neighborhoods to see just how loud it was. I wonder if Tony took the time to walk around and say, knock on some doors, “Hi I am the City Manager, how you doing, noise okay, any concerns”?
Does anyone out there know the decibel level of the sound emminating from the Snow Globe festival? There are federal, state and city laws protecting communities from ongoing noise pollution. Oh wait, in our city we aren’t protected
Wow! He’s really a nice guy huh? So very sorry for you and your family. I’m sure the rest of the new year will be good for you and your’s!!
Another worry..besides campfires, cigs, etc. On New Year’s Eve they plan fireworks…it be dry out there folks, and with all the cutbacks with the SLTFD, I hope they are standing by for any (God Forbid!)stray fireworks..but maybe that is the plan. Burn down parts of the City, then the Rich people can rebuild on formerly rustic lovely homes…screw the little people…Hope there are people out there watching out! and Who will be picking up all the trash left behind?????
Cannot believe people are complaining about a 3 day music event that has chosen our city. Sure let’s look for another venue next year but seriously suck it up people your kids are not in school right now.
Our region needs to have large scale events where our city shows well so people want to come back. Tourism is our only real industry here in Tahoe.
If our whiny locals could please stop treating tourists and outsiders like dirt they might come back and spend money regularly.
When I was working in Denver on the CVB (post 9/11) we used to do things like train cab drivers and police on how to “sell our city” and treat our visitors so they would come back. Suffice to say Denver showed one of the lightest economic downturns of any destination city and the quickest to rebound. Furthermore we welcomed those who moved to our city with open arms instead of treating them like “outsiders” like we do in Tahoe. The result is smart/young and enterprising people have moved to Denver and new businesses are popping up everywhere with high paying jobs and property values are up. Yes that was even after we licensed more dispensaries than there were Starbucks coffee shops.
What I am trying to say lose the baditude and find your raditude! Welcome SnowGlobe Thank you For Choosing Our City!
Most of these comments are being posted by a bunch of whiners. I live in the Al Tahoe neighbrhood and can feel the vibration of the music but unlike all of these uptight people; my kids enoyed hearing the music & went to sleep at the right time. I just watched a movie with the unlaying boom boom boom going on in the background. I can understand people’s frustraion over this but also feel people need to chill out a little bit and get some earplugs.
PS- If the drug of choice at the event is weed like many are commenting, then that removes a lot of drunk idiots from our streets.
I’d much rather endure a couple of days of loud music than the loud jets that fly over regularly at all hours during the summer and especially for the Celebrity Golf Tournament.
“I’m loving every minute of it!”
Turn it up louder, the Bass sounds Great, and all those sweaty tight buns moving to the throb OF THE RHYTHM, keyboard runs.
Safeway and surround business were amping at noon, those kids eating deli sands like candy, and they were very Polite!
Now all the people who don’t live down near State line know what we put up with for years down here,it’s part the season Tahoe South Shore party,You’ll get use to it.
Maybe next year, have it at the main Lodge Heavenly parking lot(stage half way up world cup chair) so North shore can spring dance, groove to the lake bass action, have fireworks at new years midnight count down.
“Party down,Be frigging HAPPY!”
CHEERS!!
If you want get away from the sound, have your own party indoors , crank it up.
Frank, Tina Turner, Woodstock, black keys,Adel,Jimi(are you experienced?)
Fight sound with sound, love every minute of it.
I just laugh at all this “long term local” talk.
This city will never be the same your 30 year run is up. The Casinos are dying – they pay minimum wage and outsource to south american whenever possible. It is a different Tahoe.
Drug dealing, noise, crime these are symptoms of a bad economoy trying to right itself. Time to put our “oustider” hats on and suck it up for 3 days. Or better yet go and buy a tickets and experience something new. The music stops at 11pm the hilbillies across the street from me argue in their front yard till later than that and the city won’t do anything about that.
Hate to say it, but I sincerely think this will blow up in the city’s face. And as usual, O’Rourke is a jerk with the public…because he has nothing but disdain for the Average Tahoe Local.
I may not live near the affected area, but I can see the effect the concert is having on traffic alone. The above citizens who have to deal with this, especially those with children, are supposed to just suck it up so the city can make money…no care for neighborhoods, residents, and how about visitors who may have wanted to actually spend a quiet weekend in the Mtns?
…and while we are here, shall we also note that the story reads like a fluff piece? Ms. Reed fails to point out the fact that the college is NOT allowing people to park there, and the Snowglobe people were actually turned down by the city when they offered security… the balance sheet between city permits, OT and the cleanup that parks & rec have ahead of them, as well as the FIRE danger already pointed out…this is a cluster waiting to happen.
there’s got to be a better way to ‘revitalize’ our economy…but the PTB can’t see the forest for the trees
It is college property. Measure S owns nothing. Please. It’s a ballot measure, a piece of paper.
More than 100 security people are working the event — hired by SnowGlobe.
It’s smart there is no parking at the college. Better security to not have people there. Better road safety for all us to have most people on buses. Maybe BlueSlow go learn a thing or two.
Rent your house out next year. Or move.
SLT has always been a tourist town and has always depended on tourism as the main economic driver. If an opportunity is presented to bring much needed tourist dollars to this cash-strapped community it doesn’t make any difference where people may live, that’s what going to happen. That’s the down-side of living in a tourist town with an always struggling tourism based economy. It’s an unfortunate fact of life that we need to give up our town for the sake of money during certain seasons and holidays. Thank goodness for shoulder seasons.
I just got a automated phone call from “the South Lake Tahoe Police” telling me not to call and complain about the noise. I live in the county, how could the police jurisdiction from a separate government entity tell me I shouldn’t have a say about the use of public property my taxes helped pay for?
Is it time to start collecting signatures for some recall elections?
I have no problem with music festivals, I would just prefer to be able to NOT attend if that is my choice. Forced participation by virtue of the incredible volume beig blasted throughout the community is grossly unfair. There is no reason I should have to listen to to this cacophony while lying in my bed with the doors/windows closed and the TV on… MILES AWAY! The volume level was so high it must surely require earplugs for actual attendees. Here’s an idea, TURN IT DOWN about 50% and then the concertgoers can enjoy the music without wearing earplugs or risking permanent damage to their hearing, and hopefully the residents can enjoy their relative peace and quiet while trying to rest after a full day’s work… and maybe even get enough sleep for when they awaken at 6:00 AM to prepare for the NEXT full day’s work as well.
We’re all in favor of encouraging the local economy, but does it have to be at the expense of the downtown neighborhoods? Some of us have work in the mornings. A lot of those people working in restaurant, motels, and stores live in Bijou, Pioneer Village, and Sierra Tract. My husband is a Contractor/carpenter & had to be at work at 8 a.m. Move? Really?
Could the volume be lowered enough that people could stay in their homes, children could sleep, pets aren’t crawling the walls (which are vibrating along with the pounding sternums & temples)?
If I don’t like what’s on TV or the radio I can change it. There is no choice with outside music. Is it reasonable that the music can be heard 2 miles away in the Tahoe Keys? Is it likely that the festival goers will have permanent hearing damage?
We are homeowners who voted for Prop. S. and believe that it is possible to bring events to town, have fun, and respect the locals. A reasonable sound ordinance is the next step as noise levels that make my fire place rattle (through double pane windows & heavy window coverings)is not acceptable.
Festival okay. The location NOT okay.
They’re spending money in town, yes, but they’re also in Raley’s trying to stuff items in their clothes. So absorbed into the moment plowed thru senior citizens and young children with carts. And they’re driving irratically and walking in front of moving cars along Hwy 50.
Would like the festival goers to enjoy, but also show some manners and courtesy to non-festival friends.
Hope the organizers’ volunteers also make the effort to go out into the surrounding neighborhoods and meadows to clean up the trash.
Diana, this festival exceeds the Federal, State and SLT city noise pollution decibel, I am SURE! If it is shaking my windows and rattling objects, then yes, to me it is far exceeding the law!
My dog is crawling the walls thinking there was an earthquake last night until 11:00pm.
I received the automated message as well from the city to not call the police, and that between 9:00pm-11:00pm, it will be extremely loud due to the band playing because they have loud bass, okay, so I appreciate the warning call, but I am still going to call the police, they are breaking the allowed decibel in residential neighborhoods, and past 10:00pm even.
I do have to say that Nancy Kerry, who is the Public Affairs and Comm. Manager at the city is going OUT OF HER WAY to try and help us, I can’t imagine the phone calls she is getting and she is doing everything in her power to help us!
I am also certain that if they turned it down 50% the festival goers would not complain, I bet they wouldn’t know the difference and then EVERYONE would be happy and have a great New Years
Murphy’s Irish Pub is giving free drinks & apps to everyone driving out of their homes by SnowGlob. The Promoters are paying for it. Party on 89th!
Your city council is not listening…….
Diana, although that’s a nice gesture on behalf of the producers, it’s a bit late and it should have been thought of before they came here, sort of like a preemptive PR move to “reach out” to the neighborhoods surrounding the festival, at least we would have had some warning.
I heard it was only from 9:00pm-11:00pm, which I am not taking my little ones out that late! On the other hand, would it be quieter there than in the middle of Tahoe? :)
Standards are good, high standards are better.
Yes – people are in town and spending money – there is some commerce goin on… true. (My guess is that most of the commerce eludes the taxman.)
But I ask, what is the cost? Is this the ‘type of hype’ you want to add onto the south shores current reputation?
I don’t know, the ‘Techno Stoner Rave Capital of the Sierras’, is that the goal? For me performing live music is one thing, but DJ raves are another.
From the powers that be there are a lot of choices that have been made over the years that have created a reputation on the south shore that I see as contradictory to what the stated objectives of the community are.
Day 2 of the Snow Globe NOISE and POT Festival. As someone who has lives in the subdivision just 250 yrds away i can attest this noise is rattling my house garage door and windows. And lets not start about the smell of POT which hung over our houses most of the evening. I also love the fact that no parking at the college but the city says OKAY to park in our subdivision. Yes everyone loves stoned kids trying to start their cars at 12 midnight. I voted for fields for Football/ Soccer/ Baseball/Softball/ and better bike paths , not something to be used for stoner ideas of music. Im 56 an old former Rock drummer and DJ who loves loud heavy metal to this day, but this stuff is not music. And i live here for the fresh air not secondary pot smoke.
If we can have loud music at festivals, then I want to be able to have a band in my backyard and the police not called until at least 11 pm. I’m all for outdoor music but noise violations need to be equitable.
The one thing that this town doesn’t need is more people here on New Year’s weekend, so the argument that it’s good for the economy is total bunk. If they were to have it during the off season then they might have an argument there. But it’s still totally unacceptable to think that the residents of this town would agree to be subjected to this at any time. And to the guy that says to either move out or rent your home next year, I say grow up, get a real job, and then buy your own house. Then you’ll know what it’s really all about. I’d bet a million bucks that you have lived here less than a year.
I live in the Sierra Tract just across the meadow from the college, and the noise level tonight – Friday – is a lot better than it was last night. But it’s total B.S. to think that this should happen again. My guess is that there were so many complaints last night from people that count, that this will be the one and only Snow Globe. Adios…
I thought is wasn’t supposed to be “extremely loud” until 9:00 lasting until 11:00pm, it’s LOUD right now and it’s 7:15pm. I can feel the bass through my whole body.
Hey Snow Globe, do you think the residents in the middle of town can all receive IV’s of tranquilizers, we could really use it
Mike, if it was music it wouldn’t be so darn irritating, this stuff is weird, I don’t get it!
agree ‘gimme a break’ … NYE is a bad enough time without this crud. methinks this may not last
Chill out and ,get out and shout out, Its Happy New years What did you think it was going to be about, Sleeping the night off? Live like you enjoy it and be happy, put the negatives away and smile , think positive thoughts, dont be old,and feel like you are, think young and live,YOU ARE ALIVE,HAPPY NEW YEAR,Live like you are alive, wake up get up and dance,it might do your body good ,they say it is good for your health, have fun.
Kathy, my life right now in this moment is to be able to enjoy reading a bed time story to my 6 year olds and not hear “BOOM BOOM BOOM” “THUMP THUMP THUMP” along with rattling windows. To be able to open a window IN MY OWN HOUSE ON MY OWN PROPERTY would be really great too.
What would do my body good right now at this moment would be a little
I am confused on the message we received from the city, they said not to call SLTPD’s main line, the 542-6100 and to save it for real emergencies, well wouldn’t that be 911?
FREEDOM A HARD THING TO HANDLE!
GOD BLESS AMERICAN!
TAHOE IS NOT A LIBARY,A MORGUE,OR DEAD!
Sometime things are done to benefit more wanting than those stuck in their own ways, LIFESTYLES.

Is this Tony O’Rourke’s idea?
I wish it was snowing
Why isn’t the TRPA enforceing their noise ordance?
And what’s this about next year? I thought this
was a one shot deal?
I live way out in Meyers and can clearly hear the base from here! This is obsurd ~ just like Tony O’Rourke!!!
Just for the record, the taxi driver who I live with made more in one night due to this event than he makes in a very good week during high season. The event is helping some locals, for sure, and that cannot be said for much of what’s happening these days on the South Shore.
Miss: that’s great news. I saw the line of cabs at the college as I drove by tonight.
Why can’t this genre be reggae, Norah Jones, some old rock-n-roll? I am for anything but all this bass, although whoever is playing now, oh yeah, they are called the Bassnectars, the lead singer has a good voice, just trying to throw a positive spin in there.
I am also glad the taxi driver made alot of money, that is a good thing, always a good thing. I hope there are local vendors inside the festival too
There is noise in Paradise everyday,I am glad to hear so many positives for a change,It does wonders for your soul,Happy New Years, keep on rocking ,and live, and let live, thats what life is all about, Happy New Years, and DANCE AND SHOUT HAPPY NEW YEARS.Oh Gia ,Happy New Year to you ,its all ok to have fun, read a book ,hope its a happy story,Think Happy thoughts ,throw away negative thoughts, and think of positives , you live longer.Happy New Year, one more day, think that thought .lolone day at a time ,think that one to ,its all good ,its what you make it,YOU .
Just read an article in the Trib. They’re thinking of having the festival at the airport next year. Then the people in the city can have a break and those in the county can listen to it for 3 nights. So they plan to have SnowGlobe again!
the plan is for 5 years of SnowGlobe
maybe the lady that shut down JimBo’s bar, can shut down this event
she used to have a good lawer
heard from a local ale vendor tonite- Hasn’t seen a jump in biz, but the regulars are coming in pissed… wonder how many complaints have been posted?
WOW , I need some of what Kathy is on…… it is 11:50pm, it was promised by city employees the festival would end at 11:00pm, it is apparent they have lost control, it’s still going strong and again I am a mile away. Even the SLT police can’t do anything at this point, wonder how that makes them feel.
It finally stopped at 11:49. This is not acceptable.
….still going? but of course….the city would Never inconvenience it’s citizens for $$$$$$
So many people are assuming that the conflicts will not decrease if the event happens again. That is irrational.
They have to get another permit if they want to do it again.
Another thought, some people want to sacrifice environmental integrity in the name of economy and profit. Except this event lasts for 3 days and has no long term impact.
Is the City charging snowglobe a use or impact fee?
This is a ‘government run the people’ type of town instead of the old other version where ‘people run the government’ type of American structure.
The local and state government has inserted its influence into every aspect of this town and have destroyed so much of your freedom that it is ranked among the worst economically and least free cities in America. The State of California itself is ranked the 48th ‘least’ free state in fact with only NY and New Jersey ranked worse.
Your government has run it expenses through the roof and run jobs and opportunity off the mountain and out of the state.
The focus on ‘big’ tourism business at the expense and needs of other industries and basic stability has driven many other enterprises away.
Now the government is desperate for new revenue sources and came up with this festival idea. They are going to start forcing government run events on the town like this Snow Globe event where they, the government and non profit agencies exempt themselves from the same laws they constrain you with.
Don’t get me wrong, I love music and festivals but the rules have to be the same for everyone in a free and ‘open’ economy and society. You have neither.
South Lake Tahoe and the State of California are in a debt driven death spiral; from here it gets worse, much worse.
GBA
I’ve been to a lot of rock concerts over the years and they all have one thing in common, they’re LOUD!
I don’t think a change of location would do much to change this as sound really travels through the basin. Besides it would just affect other neighborhhods. Falls into that NIMBY stance.
If they come back next year I think a lower decibal level could be put in place that could satisfy residents as well as concert attendees. Was there even a level set for this event?
I don’t want to come across as that grumpy old man scowling and standing,
on his porch, shaking his fist and shouting”get off my lawn, you kids!” But it seems to me the second night was even louder than the first. I imagine tonight will be louder still, plus throw in fireworks and all the crazies celebrating new years eve at stateline and around town.
The irony is that when I still lived at home, the Woodstock album had just come out and I played it in my room at full volume over and over. My mom and dad pounding on my bedroom door, yelling over the music blasting from my little plastic speakers “turn it down in there!”
Well now the shoe is on the other foot and I’m askig they turn it down at Snowglobe…maybe I am turning into that grumpy old man after all!!!
Take care, Old Long Skiis
There is a good reason the Burning Man festival is held out in the middle of nowhere – so it doesn’t bother anybody nearby. For the City to schedule this event on the already busiest day and busiest week of the year even without it, and right between urban, otherwise quiet residential neighborhoods, is inappropriate, misguided, and inconsiderate. No question but that the noise exceeds legal decibel levels.
We have been awakened, and kept awake, every night in Tahoe Keys several miles away. It wouldn’t be so bad if this was just a short event like fireworks or an overhead jet or helicopter…however this goes on and on and on for hours…and for days. Few things fit the description of disturbing the peace better than this, especially late at night.
I remember the old “Starlight Jazz Festival” held at the Amphitheater out at the Visitor’s Center on Hwy 89. A location well outside of town with spectacular scenery and setting, yet the event was cancelled due to noise consideration for the squirrels, birds and racoons (the racoons are up all night anyway…). This venue was the IDEAL place to hold a concert, but now, although it is owned by US (the taxpayers… and, obviously, WE own the field at the college, too!), it may not be used for any amplified music whatsoever and is therefore essentially “off limits” for concerts.
Your gubmint at work… go figgur.
Wow. 90+ comments. Gotta love anything that pushes this many buttons. Happy New Year!
At the Airport next year??? No thanks Nancy Kerry you can keep your money maker in the city where it belongs!
If the city is making money the powers that be could care less about its residents.
Airport? Where are they going to put 10,000 at the airport? Out on the runway? That airport is nothing but an echo chamber. If Snow Globe was held there if would be heard from Echo Summit, clear across the lake in Incline Village and still at those homes around the college. They should move it out to Hope Valley, off of Blue Lake Rd. Nothing out there but snowmobilers who like noise anyway.
Pubworks TV, you say it much more eloquently then I could, thank you for posting. I agree with everything you say and the rest following.
Rumor has it our City Manager bailed out to Colorado…so he is not here to see the ramifications of his ill thought out project….Prediction: Snow Glob lost Tony his Job…
A huge kudos to Heavenly for planning their New Years event while still respecting the locals who live here.
They have a band too, and guess what time they are ending? 9:00pm, now that is reasonable, respectable and makes complete sense!
Thank you Heavenly
Old Tony goes home to Colorado to get a little thats where his wife and children live, they did not like our little town.
last night 12:05 the whomp ended did the promoter get in trouble for going 1 hour past there permit
where’s the TRPA it’s their job to monitor sound polution – they probably got paid off…
When long-time locals want to celebrate special family occasions in their own back yard, I will remind the SLT police of SnowGlobe. I have outdoor parties as well as my close friends do once a year in the summer. Everytime,SLT police have showed up way before 10:00 pm to shut us down. They say “we have to respond to even one complaint”. They told me they would give me a ticket and had to right to remove the music equipment. I love music and I am not against music festivals. I’m just calling for “Fair Play” with people that actually live here full time.
This morning I received a phone call from the city with a recorded message asking residents not to call the police department to complain about the noise from the concert. The message did say that between 9:30 pm and 11:30 pm the bass will be loud enough to cause vibrations.
Bottom line is we have to see where the numbers come in, at the end. Maybe we did not make that much money off this event, so we would never repeat it anyway.
So far, all I’ve heard is 20k, 10k to the city and 10k to the college. That’s not enough to bother with all the disturbance.
But I’m guessing we will have sales tax? occupancy tax, and also get feedback from our motels, stores, restaurants, taxi’s etc, to see what everyone thought of the events influence on their business.
One thing to consider is some of these young people are going to grow into future big spending tourists, as they mature in life. Do we want them to be introduced to our area? Have fond memories of South Lake? or do we want to let some other city court them?
Tourism is our business in this city, we all rely on tourism’s dollars one way or another, no matter if your a real estate agent, contractor, pet sitter, or non-tourist focused shopkeeper. People who work in the tourist industry spend money where you work. Oh, and if your retired, tourists provide variety of shops and restaurants in town, without them, there would be very little up here. Should we embrace all tourists? or should we only accept the old ones with deep pockets and quiet tastes? They eventually die off, so you need to work at bringing some new ones in! and Tahoe is for EVERYONE!
Let’s wait and see what the numbers are in the end, then we can decide if it should happen again, and what changes we need.
Oh, and by the way, drove from one end of town to the other yesterday and it was way more busy from about Ski Run to the Y, Stateline and the Village were very quiet, so we did pull the New Years people deep into the California side; which was a goal, now we just need to see if it was profitable!
I am so excited about this festival! It is a good start and I hope it becomes an even better event in the future. We need events for young people. A little noise for a few days is not a big deal.
The way to put SLT on the map is tourism – music is better than gambling. And if you are disgruntled, go sell some hot cocoa, talk to these people, make friends and make money. In other words, make love, not war, that is what life is about!
The City Council authorized this horrendous SnowGlobe event. The South Lake Tahoe PD requests that we do not call them to complain. And The City Manager leaves town during this sensitive time.
In most cases, the City Council members’ home phone numbers are listed in the phone directory. I suggest a call to them during the hours of 2:00-4:00am is appropriate. Since they have authorized this disturbance in our lives, let them and their families be disturbed themselves as well.
Perhaps this action by the City Council should be forefront during the next election. Also perhaps the City Manager’s absence is due to a job search elsewhere. One can only hope.
This could be the new Woodstock? Really? That show’s what you know about music.
We’re still listening to the people that played Woodstock 40 year later. This crap that’s being played this weekend will be forgotten as soon as the weekend ends.
When is the next City Council meeting, I will certainly be attending. I only wished that all members of the City Council and city employees involved could have lived in the neighborhoods surrounding Snow Globe, so they would understand what we have been hearing since Thursday.
Although I support this event I don’t support the location.
Did the city seek any input from the surrounding communities before they decided on the location? A letter, an email, anything?
And yes I find it highly disturbing at best that we all received a message from SLTPD to not call and during these hours your windows may vibrate, are they kidding? I think we could have figured that out on our own.
When are Tool or Metallica comin to town. Happy New Year!!!
Can anyone tell me of South Lake’s past experience with events as large as Snowglobe? I haven’t lived here very long, so have not been around for any. Only big events I know of, are always on the Nevada side, but maybe there have been some events in the past?
To Tahoe Local: next countil meeting is this Tuesday, January 3 The agenda should be on the City’s website already according to the Brown Act.
I was present at a local company in town that had a large group of customers from Mexico and one of them said “we noticed a lot of dirty people” in town and wondered what was up. I said we had the SnowGlobe Music Festival the past 3 days, which has basically the “high altitude burning man” and they looked completely disgusted. Is that how we want South Lake Tahoe (soon to be known as Tahoe South) to be portrayed or even associated with? I guess the all mighty dollar turns people into street corner managers. Honestly.
And to Geeper: The airport is in the City limits since it’s owned by the city. I will do all I can to make sure the FAA is aware of this event prior to ANYONE asking to have this event at the airport. They DO NOT like any event that is not aviation based to happen at an airport, especially since they gave the City nearly 7M to reconstruct the runway and almost 2M to reconstruct the ramp areas recently. The airport is an airport, not an amusement park or a dog park. The runway is NOT Optional!
No careabout, there’s never been anything this large to occur here as far as music before ON THE SLT ca. side.
Kirkwood use to have concerts on the ski runs, and Boreal Ridge BUT THAT’S ABOUT IT.Mountain Air use be held in the frog jumping area ,that died.
The Grateful Dead killed Boreal, too many people parked on the highway and it got bigger than they planned for.Truckee got ripped off from deadheads stealing more than they paid for,Lot’s public out cry killed that venue.
I guess everyone must be happy tonight, back to the boring TV,beating the kids, hopping in bed with the next door neighbors wife, borrowing 20 to put in a video machine town, be back to bitching about pot smoke air,no business,no snow,NO FRIGGING MONEY!
The clouds must caught Sierra fever.God didn’t want have to answer the iPhone calls from the complainers, he doesn’t bother with calling you up ,telling you are you ready to fry bub?
Such is life in the Old Hole Town, trying to get the screws out the broken down, same-old, same-old,moldy City of Rumors, NEGTIVE IDEAS, they keep pushing dirt under our beds.
Later, time to put the plugs in ears itunes away!
Sure be fun to be skating away on a frozen lake with fire-ring,good happy friends,
Peace
I live at 1375 chinquapin and I have no issues with this event. The stateline new years cost more in public funds than this did, and it caused more problems. Lets move on to the new, the old is gone. Does someone live closer, if they do I will pay for all the volume impacts you have had. Send me the bill for the volume impacts at your address, and your name. lou pierini.
28 year local-“mexicans in town”- Do these mexicans walk around their own towns. Their towns are covered in blood and dead bodies, at least ours just has some dirty people, and I didn’t notice any dirty people.
I was present at Tahoe South this weekend and we had our 36th Annual Holiday Party(some Mexicans too~) and they said they noticed more and more smarmy right wing popinjays than usual…. they were righteously disgusted. Is this who we really want to be associated with? the 99%?
Lou That’s why I like coming into your business, you’re Cool Lou.
Hope you make a million this year, maybe 2000 ozers before the end of the hyperinflation 2012 year.
Over the years I’ve partied in this town ,all the chinquapins people never called on or shut down any the gathering the locals attended,I really miss Jeff the Glass man who use make us all laugh so much.rip…
Lets move on to the new,Agree!
Where is Tahoe South? Is that around Hope Valley? I live in South Lake Tahoe, no matter what some marketing group says.
Hey.. buy a clue to the topic thread …harrrumph
Steven: You say Mexicans as if it were a dirty word, someone beneath you. Really? If you must know these folks were actually high-ranking mexican citizens that came to Tahoe for a little over a week. The children were absolutely beautiful and so well mannered and very respectful. They were not part of any drug cartel or getting away with smoking dope in public. And Tahoe South, don’t you read the Tribune or this periodical on a regular basis? I didn’t make it up. The reference to it was completely sarcastic.
Krista: If anyone feels someone else is beneath them it sounds like your “high-ranking mexican citizens” think anyone attending Burning Man or Snow Globe is beneath them. I did not accuse them of being drug lords or smoking pot in public. But many of their cities and maybe the entire country is run by drug cartels and their city streets are covered in blood and bodies from drug wars. And because of your stance against the Snow Globe at the airport, I can only assume you were disgusted by the event at the college and your description of the Snow Globe to your guests was tainted by your feelings. These “high-ranking mexican citizens” sound like money to me. So its ok for their kind of money to come here, but not 10,000 people who wish to spend $100 each to attend a show. Are these show goers beneath you also?
Steve I agree with you 110 percent,No harm was done by these people at all.very well put.
get a clue steven the drug war is funded by the us gov’t WORLDWIDE, its our global policies that are killin those people.
and as far as no harm done, id like to know how that field held up and how much its gonna take to get it back to normal.
and if this does come to the airport, the city needs to do some volume control, I live at the Y and could hear the show especially the last night.
I support bringing bigger events to Tahoe but we need to work on the pros and cons of having an event like this in the middle of town, not everyone celebrates new years the same.
I went to the field today to check it out
I’m pleased to tell you the Football field did just fine,
Steven: I’ll forward your sentiments.
Krista Eissinger, years ago I put up a flag pole for the president of Mexico, out in the keys on lake shore drive, believe it or not, there was more going on in that mansion that pot puffing.
Plus, he never flew the stars stripes either.
Wealthy Latins, ,Asian, could care less what Americans are doing.
90%OF THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT NOISE,WERE NO SHOWS”!
Do you really believe people are going to take time out their personal lives, to burn 8 bucks in gas to drive out to the airport ,wait patiently in line, to speak their peace?
Here blow into the mic, that’s how much air this town got?
Hang Up: what the heck are you talking about? Foreigner’s $ isn’t as good as stoners?
To the NIMBY’s and 20-40 year Locals,
You need to buy some earplugs. It’s only three days. And its over before the evening news at 11PM. Did you frequent any of the local businesses?? They were booming. Im a long time resident and home owner in this town and 40 years old. Snow Globe rocked. Was the best thing to come to this town in a long time. I had a great New Years with my wife there. Awesome vibe and music. You should all come next time and see and experience for yourself.
Peace and Love to my South Lake Peeps
And it was nothing like Burning Man. Burning man waaaaaaay more cooler, and Snow Globe was pretty cool.
And Kudos to Kay for the positive article…
It’s not going away people…it’s coming back next year ;0)
Look forward to shaken my booty with you all next year!
Whomp…Whoooomp…Whoooooooomp!
