Undercover agents seize $20,000 in drugs at SnowGlobe

image_pdfimage_print

South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team agents were at the SnowGlobe Music Festival for two nights during the Dec. 29-31 event at Lake Tahoe Community College.

At the entrance people who had drugs or other items not allowed at the venue could dump them in “amnesty containers” — meaning they would not be cited or arrested for whatever they left behind. Some of the totals below reflect the goods that were seized in this manner.

The following are the number arrests-seizures agents made:

  • 8 arrests
  • 3.5 pounds marijuana (approximate value $10,500)
  • 76 grams powdered MDMA (approximate value $6,000)
  • 13 ecstasy pills ($195)
  • 4 vials of LSD ($2,500)
  • 64 miscellaneous pills ($1,000)
  • 15 weapons (mostly edged weapons like knives).

I’ve been around here awhile, I could take some cash out of the bank and have one of my younger friends purchase those same drugs and weapons at any of the casino nightclubs next weekend…. easily… and no arrests. I would not do this of course but come on. Do a casino room sweep of 10,000 people and see what might turn up on New Year’s weekend.

But Smedley, there are laws against unreasonable search and seizure, so you can’t just go popping into people’s rooms without good reason. Dumb kids who are doing drugs openly in public are fair game, I guess. Darwin’s rules.

    No cocaine, and no heroin.

That is impressive and a sign of a great crowd.
Why can’t they have a place to use psychedelic drugs in a group setting complete with first aid stations? Sovereignty over your consciousness.

Another pathetic attempt by slednet to prove their needed in this community. They are far from effective, if anything they are a let role in keeping tahoe’s underground drug market thriving. Awesome job guys, lets go harass an easy target at the globe which is full of people that came from outtta town to spend money in tahoe, forget about the heroin junkees and coke dealers that are running rampant through our streets. This should show, they are not here for the community.

What are the alcohol amounts seized?

  10. the conservation robot says - Posted: January 5, 2012

Burning Man… if for some reason I wanted to go take psychedelic drugs again (its been man years), I don’t think I would vibe with all the dudity (dude nudity). In short, there should be many options.
Parker and I agree? A new year indeed!

I think SLEDNET is losing its funding…

And they still can’t stop the hacking that effectively causes media censorship.

Well said @greenthumb. Many underlying issues here. Whether you choose to participate or not, it comes down to your constitutional rights of freedom. All that needs to be said, is that there are way larger problems that should be addressed and unfortunately these festival goers who supported our town through this unprecedented snow drought were easily targeted. Many of us who were slightly discrete had no encounter or problems with authorities. This is a beautiful party town, embrace it and reap the financial benefits of vacationers. Bring Snowglobe back!

  13. Krista Eissinger says - Posted: January 5, 2012

SLEDNET is very necessary. The only reason there weren’t any more drugs recovered is probably because the men and women in uniform were probably told not to enforce any local, state, and federal law. If there was so much voluntarily turned then just imagine how much wasn’t.

MRocker…Yes, Snow Globe should def come back. It totally rocked.

Conservation Robot…You should go to Burning Man before judging it. Thats what people can invision nudeness and drugs. You can’t explain burning man to someone unless you’ve been there. It’s the most beautiful place on Earth…really.
