nice loaded question- lousy system? How about a town with no system! I think I can speak for the other 35+ drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, maintenance crew AND management- We are all putting forth our best effort to operate a public transit system faced with meager financing, (hello state of california) I do not have to delve into bad weather, summer construction issues, etc. the drivers that honk and give us the one finger salute,enhance this experience for our dedicated riders-KEY WORD=riders! pick up a schedule lately? see the new covered stops going up? Before anyone gets rabid on this issue, ride the bus,go to meetings,and help a driver chain up in a blizzard before you shout out…..

Close it down, there has never been a Public Transit System that has made money, NEVER, they just cost the public money in TAXES. GET RID OF IT.
What do people really want? 1. July and August free express from lower Kingsbury transit station to Camp Richardson? Will this lower congestion and smog? Will workers get to work on time better and cheaper resulting in a happier chunk of very low paid tourist employees? If it takes tourists 2-5 years to understand the benefits of a Stateline to Camp Rich free express will they use it?
2. Will on call(immediately pressed into service when fixed route cannot hold a schedule due to weather, traffic,ect..) 50 express(Y transit center to Stateline) buses lower frustration during peak times enticing commuters and tourist out of personal vehicles?
Some people think public transit is for disadvantaged people. Parts of Europe that have a higher standard of living than this country seem to have a different perspective.

Smaller, more economical buses. I have seen this trend happening in many other places.
Change the name to something more appropriate for public transportation. “Blue Go” sounds like a tour company, not a public bus…it’s confusing.
I have always been amazed with the drivers ability to cope with seasonal tourist traffic, and the weather. It’s not easy. Thanks for doing such a great job.

I like the idea of a light rail around the lake. Right in the center of the road like in europe.

Given what they have to work with I think they do “ok”. You can’t just carve this out and treat it like a one-off problem. What the city needs is a comprehensive plan that incorporates all modes, e.g. walking, biking, transit, etc. Provide sufficient resources to the walking and bike routes and you need less of the transit piece. A dedicated bus lane/route that gets plowed first would also go a long way to help. Not sure the construction debris and mess that putting in light rail would bring makes sense.

the last time I rode the bus was the winter of 75-76 it was the middle of the night and we were flying on LSD
more people walk or ride there bikes,

What do you think about $5 a gal.? How much $ does it take to run these Buses? $5 for for an allday pass,$4 each way to Carson City, how about $2 all the way to Tahoma? What a deal! How much would you pay? The buses cost alot more than they make each day that they Run 365 days a year!! I love seeing Bikes on buses?? They don’t mind paying the price for a Dry ride across Town!! SN

I would love to see a “express commuter” route between Tahoe City and the South Shore “Y”. There are actually more people then you think who commute the West Shore to get to work everyday.
They are not lousy ,What about the people that Do not have car?, They have to depend on them,Not everyone is rich here, People that are handicap need them ,leave alone ,

One of the key findings to come out of the poverty conference last year was a need for a good, regular system for low income households. Many rely on the system to get to work and around town. The challenge as always is funding, the cost for what we need is much greater than the funds available. Chances are if you go to a destination that has a good transit system there is specific funding for it many times a tax or special assessment.

I was lucky enough to attend the Sundance Film Festival at Park City, UT last year and the transport system was nothing short of stellar. Granted they were able to utilize volunteers to stand at each bus stop to direct people but even without this assistance the bus service ran smoothly and we never waited more than 10 minutes to get where we wanted to go. They even went so far as to lay out straw on muddy corners. It was truly inspiring.

In Japan, companies provide or sell reduced fare tickets to their employees. Create a program where the casinos, hotels and restaurants can do this at Tahoe.

Subsidise THE TAXIS SERVICES IN TOWN,FORGET ALL THE HASSEL.
Can you imagine South Lake Tahoe laying straw out on muddy corners at the bus stops…
