Edgewood Companies is having an open house March 29 from 5:30-7pm to explain the Edgewood Tahoe Lodge project. The meeting will be at the clubhouse of the Stateline golf course.

The lodge project includes a LEED-designed hotel with environmental improvements located adjacent to the current Edgewood clubhouse. It will include 194 hotel rooms, a bistro-style restaurant, spa, links to nearby bike and walking trails and a public beach.

The draft environmental impact statement is expected to be released this month for a 60-day review. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board is expected to vote on the project in September. Construction could begin in 2013.

Does Edgewood pay anything, in the way of taxes to South Lake Tahoe?

I’m curious as to why anyone would see this project as a negative.
    1) I’m sure this would be paid for entirely by the Park Cattle Co. with no public funding (just guessing, but probably a safe bet)
2)Any improvements here on the South Shore would be welcome addition
3)Any visitors that would be guests of this resort would be spending $ at many other locations in businesses both in Stateline, NV and South Lake Tahoe, CA
    4) Would create more jobs for our under utilized workforce.

Not sure how adding 194 rooms to the casino corridor (especially in light of the hundreds that were demolished in preparation for the Hole) would clog loop road with backed up traffic. And also don’t quite get the question about providing any direct tax revenue to SLT. Is there any expectation of a business on one side of the state line paying municipal taxes to a city in the neighboring state?
