Opinion: Firefighters appreciative of community’s support

To the community,

The annual Lake Valley Firefighters’ Ball is always gauged by the commitment and generosity of our community. This year was no different.

The 50th annual Lake Valley Firefighters’ Ball is the Lake Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association’s single fund-raising event of the year and this year was a great success.

This would not be possible without the support of this wonderful community by both the attendance and donations. We would like to thank all the individuals and businesses that donated and helped make this happen. Your support and generosity is overwhelming.

We would also like to take a moment to thank our grand prize donors. Thank you to Kirkwood, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Sierra Athletic Club, Pamela Francis – Century 21 at Tahoe Paradise, and general contractor Ray A. Fernsten for your very generous donations.

We look forward to our 51st annual Ball next year and hope to see you there.

“We come to your fire, you come to our ball.”

Thanks again,

Lake Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association

the ‘firefighter phenomenon’ continues: an elitist overpaid publicly funded organization that is extorting the taxpayer…

You have got to be kidding me! You obviously must not be a real local. I have seen and experienced personally, friends who lost their houses and others who had theirs saved. Put your name where your mouth is and tell us who you are.

LTN: Thanks for editing the last note from me. I apologize for the acronym I used.

I have an addendum to my previous response to Fromform, whomever that may be. Here it is:

Probably like the afore mentioned comment by “fromform,” I too, am tired of having my hard earned tax dollars spent frivolously! However, it seems to me that logic should be taken into account.

There are certain infrastructures in place in the US that elevates us to the goals worthy worthy of the American way. Levels to ward off serious consequences that need to be, at what the “market” can bare, to keep from incidences like the Chicago fire of 1871 and many other instances. Tahoe is a tinder box! Forest management has been seriously supressed to the point of disaster.

Paying for social security & medical care for illegal immigrants, and many other wasteful programs is a dead end street… granted! I know I am going out on a limb here but, let’s use common sense. (even though I agree with Mark Twain… common sense is not so common.)

Eliminating or cutting back on lifesaving, life propagating services, including education, is dooming our children, our children’s children and beyond. Let’s spend what little tax money we have for things that are necessary. Thanks for hearing me from my burned out stump!

    Jim

We had an amazing time this year! LOVED the slideshow of the guys and girls in every aspect of work and play too, there were a few great oldies but goodies mixed in there :) We will support this event for as many years as LVFD hosts it! If Im not mistaken this event raises money for equipment and programs that the budget doesn’t cover, but are still very important. Thanks LVFD we’ll see you next year!!!

FROM FROM is the dumbest person to ever respond to an article,

FROM FROM is not a person that has lived here in Tahoe long.

FROM FROM SHOULD GO BACK TO THE CITY THAT HE OR SHE CAME FROM, WE DON’T NEED HER KIND IN TAHOE.
