More than 40 people competed in the standup paddleboard race Wednesday night at El Dorado Beach.

Some were hunched over as they paddled hard to the marker and back to the shore.

Lake Tahoe was calm and the air warm as they competed.

The May 30 race was close, with Julianne Brackett placing first and Tom Gandt a close second.

Congrats Julianne! The Alpen Sierra coffee we shared prior to the race always gives an extra boost ;-). Good work, Tom, good work, Chris and crew!

El Dorado beach has been reclaimed! What a great difference with all the work done there and a great Wed night event. I couldn’t believe how tranformed I felt while watching everything there, faith restored in South Shore. Thanks to Tahoe COnservancy, the City and Chris Brackett for a hip new scene.

I cannot say enough about the entire Brackett family. Between the new Lakeview Commons areas and the Brackett’s hard work in bringing locals together there, it’s a win win for this community. The BEST way and the best place to watch the sunset on a Wednesday evening.
