Grass Roots expects to unlock doors to new store this month
Grass Roots, the natural food store in South Lake Tahoe, is hoping to open the doors to the larger facility in a week.
The tentative date is June 18 — about three months later than originally planned.
Jon McElroy, who owns the store with his wife Sandra, said it was a much bigger project than he expected to convert the old Blockbuster into a grocery store.
No big grand opening is planned at the get-go. McElroy told Lake Tahoe News he wants the opening to be quiet, work out the kinks, and then possibly do something big.

Great news! Congratulations on your business growth and an important contribution to our community.
We’re so glad for you and your customers to finally be opening. We can hardly wait.
A wonderful store & crew! All the best!!!
That is great news….my family and I come up there every year and we love your store. We are excited to see the growth and possible new items! Maybe a nice big fat juicy natural turkey for TDAY!!!! What is the new address?
The new location is on Highway 50 — the old Blockbuster. But it’s accessed via essentially the same driveway as the current location — just go to the right.
