Efforts to create an El Dorado County advisory committee for “coordination” will move forward, after the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday gave qualified approval to a proposal by Supervisor Ray Nutting.

Coordination refers to an effort by the county to have an earlier and more effective say in federal and state policy decisions in the county, particularly regarding use of public lands.

Supervisors did not approve establishing a committee, as Nutting has proposed, but asked staff to work with Nutting and Tim Roffe – Nutting’s designated coordination expert – to develop a more concrete proposal.

Nutting and Roffe’s concept would be a committee of local experts who would offer input to the other governmental bodies, based on policies established by supervisors.

The matter is due to return to the board in late July.
