Air Force in Tahoe practicing rescue jumps

An Air Force C-130 that landed at Lake Tahoe Airport on Saturday is expected to depart the afternoon of June 19.

The crew is on the South Shore practicing high altitude para rescue jumping.

“Para rescue jumpers are medics that jump out of an airplane to attend to wounded that can’t be reached via vehicle,” airport Manager Sherry Miller told Lake Tahoe News.

It’s possible the crew and plane will be back Aug. 25 for the Lake in the Sky Air Show.

    The low elevation approach at least one of those type of aircraft made recently looked like some kind of monitoring avoidance training.
