JoAnn, interested in hearing what you have to say, AND hearing what makes you feel you are qualified to be able to be effective on the SLT City Council if elected. New blood is a much needed commodity here in our little piece of heaven, BUT that new blood MUST be up to speed on local issues AND have an in depth understanding of the civic process.

Kae, thank you for letting me know of the opportunity to meet with City Council candidate, Jo Ann Conner this morning. She is definitely on the right track for the people here in South Lake Tahoe!

    John,

I would add that whoever is elected to the City Council MUST have a real understanding of reading and interpreting financial statements. Financial statements are the method used in the business world to communicate financial information and if one doesn’t understand how the data on those statements is integrated, what important data may be missing, and the overall message being conveyed in that financial information then they are not qualified to be making important million dollar financial decisions on behalf of this community. And I don’t want to hear the past comments I’ve gotten on this subject that if that was a requirement then nobody would run for office. It’s NOT better to be led by the incompetent—you wouldn’t go to a professional automobile mechanic to have your teeth fixed and I place this along those same lines.

My above post was supposed to be addressed to you and not to John. I apologize for this oversight.

Austin Sass, lets play dictator for a day. You get to implement three projects. Because of your good looks and charm the community backs you 100%, but the regulatory agencies of Tahoe are unswayed. Any project you propose must be approved by them. What are your top three projects for setting a course for south lake for 20 years?

Biggerpicture, thank you for the interest.
I have owned and operated three different businesses in my adult life, two currently here in SLT.Comes with the territory to understand finances, regulations, budgets, etc.I also have corporate and business law on my transcripts.
I have been involved in this community for over thirty years. The past three years, I have been president of the only Chamber of Commerce located in the City of South Lake Tahoe. I have listened to hundreds of business owners and employees express their concerns and have attended, almost without exception, every City Council meeting, special and otherwise, for well over a year. I have also attended a number of other agency meetings and belong to a number of volunteer organizations.I look forward to meeting you and answering your questions at a forum, one of the community “Coffee with Conner” events, or I invite you to call me at 544-7412 and I will be happy to go into greater detail.
