South Lake Tahoe woman dies in motorcycle accident
Two people died on Labor Day on Nevada highways, including a woman from South Lake Tahoe.
Jennifer Lyrea Leonard, 50, of South Lake Tahoe was riding on the back of a motorcycle driven by her husband Chuck Leonard, 53, of South Lake Tahoe. She was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the Harley Davidson struck a culvert warning sign on Highway 50 at Logans Creek Drive.
“For an unknown reason the Harley Davidson failed to negotiate the bend in the road and exited onto the south dirt shoulder of Highway 50,” NHP said in a press release.
Chuck Leonard was transported by CalStar to Renown Medical Center in Reno. His condition is unknown.
Another accident on Sept. 4, about 10 minutes later at 3:25pm, was on the Mount Rose Highway west of Sky Tavern.
Patrick M. Zielke of Fallon was driving a Yamaha motorcycle east on Mount Rose when he crossed the double yellow center line and hit a motorhome head-on, according NHP troopers. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No one in the motorhome was injured.

We will miss you Jen and we will all pull together for Chuck, Tucker and Jordan…To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. And I know you knew Him and are with Him at this very moment.
Myself and my sister-in-law were the very first on the scene. Chuck and Jennifer were immediately in front of us and we saw the whole thing happen. We were with her when she passed. I am haunted by her beautiful eyes. I was so happy to learn her name this morning and just want to send my sincerest condolences to her family and friends. God bless and keep you in his loving embrace and may he comfort you in this terrible time.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Leonard family. What a sad day when the mom of the household is suddenly lost.
Tahoe News–please let the South Lake Tahoe community know how Chuck is doing and what we can do to help the family. Our thoughts are with the Leonard family
