A motorcyclist from Ben Lomond died Sept. 10 in Meeks Bay after being struck by an unlicensed driver.

John McCabe, 52, was on his Yamaha going south on Highway 89 when Maria Cabrera, 35, of Tahoe City made a left from Mountain Drive in front of McCabe, according to the California Highway Patrol. She was attempting to go north on the highway.

McCabe died at the scene.

Cabrera, who was driving a Dodge Durango, was arrested on charges of being an unlicensed driver. Officers do not believe alcohol was a factor.
