I love the Aspen grove on Pioneer Trail just west of Ski Run Blvd. It isn’t as spectacular as Hope Valley (which is the best)but it is my daily fix for color. I enjoy watching the daily change on my way through town.

I enjoy some of the smaller stands of Aspens found in mountain drainage’s that you have to hike to to see. Also all the willows in the drainage’s around town.

The Rubicon trail – nice hike, water and fall colors, good combination.
Also, Taylor Creek and the other side of the highway toward Fallen Leaf Lake and Tallac.

Hope Valley is always a great spot. Stop at the on the downside of Luther Pass, park at the turnout on the right and wander down thru the Aspen grove and meadow, or make a right at Picketts Junction like you are heading towards Kirkwood and park there and you can walk up thru the meadow as if your’re heading back up Luther.
The big meadow just past Fallen Leaf Campground is also very good. Not much parking in either of these places but well worth it!!!
Enjoy the fall colors, Old Long Skiis
