While not a holiday gift… most women get jewelry or similar when husbands get back from a long trip… mine was away and his work took him to the mountains (this was before our being in Tahoe) and he came home with a big plastic bag of bear poop. His response, “Well you wanted to know what it looked like”. Has made me laugh for years.

It was more the occasion. Our parents put the wrong names on the gifts one year. They said they did it on purpose to get our reactions. I still don’t believe them. What started as a horrible experience, was really fun by the end of the morning.

Many, many years ago when discount stores that carry clothing “seconds” really started taking off my Mother bought me a knit top for Christmas that she thought “was really cute and would just look so nice”. The only problem with this “seconds” knit top was that the arms had been sewn in backward so when I put it on to model it for her there was no way I could extend my arms out in front of me and all I could comfortably do was stand around with my hands behind my back. To this day, my sisters and brothers and even my nieces and nephews still laugh about that knit top that Mom gave me that she got such a great deal on!
