STHS girls basketball team wins first round in playoffs

In a repeat of last week’s game between the South Tahoe Vikings and Truckee Wolverines, the Vikings won.

But this game on Feb. 13 had more meaning. The girls fought their way into the next round of the playoffs. The Vikings won before their home crowd, 35-28.

Next up for the girls basketball team is Elko on Feb. 15 at Wooster starting at 6:15pm.

Wednesday night’s game was physical and full of fouls by both teams.

The Vikings played most of the game with nine players because Melanie Grady was sidelined in the first quarter with what is believed to be a broken nose. Bailey David was on the bench after sustaining a concussion last week. It’s too soon to know if she will be cleared to play Friday.
