His background was in advertising.

Most recently Abbott was living in Roseville, where he was a member of the Roseville Elks Club.

Abbott is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son, Loren Abbott Jr. and wife Didier of Lincoln; daughter, Lori Brown and husband Robert of Edwards, Colo.; his daughter, Lisa Smoot and husband Mike of Roseville; daughter, Leslie Coe and husband Dan of Rocklin; and several grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be April 28 at the Clubhouse at Diamond K Estates in Roseville. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the organization closest to your heart in remembrance of Abbott.
