Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston, award-winning author of “Farewell to Manzanar”, will be in South Lake Tahoe to speak about how the story of her family’s life in an internment camp became a cautionary tale about civil rights violations.

She is one of five authors selected for the Cal Humanities Searching for Democracy California Reads Program.

A reception and book signing will follow.

The event is May 14 at 5pm at the South Lake Tahoe Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.

I think it’s incredible that we have this opportunity here in South Lake Tahoe because of the Friends of the Library.
