Fireworks to light up South Lake Tahoe
NBC’s “Today Show” recognized South Lake Tahoe’s Lights on the Lake Fireworks display as one of the country’s top Fourth of July weekend celebrations. The American Pyrotechnics Association rates South Shore’s Fourth of July fireworks celebration as one of the top five displays in the nation.
The show is scheduled to begin at 9:45pm July 4. The fireworks are visible from all over town.
This is the kind of publicity Lake Tahoe needs to promote heavily in our feeder markets. “Experience one of the Top Independence Day celebrations in America this year” should be splattered over billboards and newspaper ads everywhere. Let’s not lose this opportunity.
Yes, and also advertise the Paddle-boat race between the Tahoe Queen and the
ss Dixie…. and all the other activities going on (concerts?). Maybe the City or Park & Rec or some public-serving entity, should have 4th of July T-Shirts and/or Sweatshirts made which would be sold over the 3 national holiday weekends: Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. The shirts could be red, white or blue with a silk-screened graphic of fireworks and a flag, with the text LAKE TAHOE.
Proceeds could help fund public events (e.g., those at LakeView Commons).
