Access provided to Vikingsholm for disabled
Vikingsholm is accessible for people who need a ride to the Lake Tahoe shoreline castle.
Reservations to access Vikingsholm by vehicle must be booked at least 24 hours in advance by calling (530) 525.9529. Access is available when volunteers are able to provide the service.
One person in each group must have an ADA placard with them and give the placard number when making the reservation. Only one vehicle allowed per ADA placard.
Meet at D.L. Bliss visitors’ center between 12:30-12:45pm, purchase a $10 parking permit, then a docent will lead in their vehicle, and guests will follow. Return up the hill at 3pm.
As one of the ADA volunteers, this is such a wonderful opportunity and appreciated by so many. In the past, the only way to get to The Castle was to hike down or boat in, not an option for many. Our California Parks Department wants all to enjoy the beauty of the Bay- its location is a highlight of our summer.
Just take the access road to the boat camp? Paved all the way
I assume they had to modify the home and grounds quite a bit for accessibility also?
