Felon accused of possessing stolen gun
A convicted felon was found driving through South Lake Tahoe with a stolen gun in his vehicle.
John Liska, 34, of South Lake Tahoe was pulled over in a routine stop about 6pm June 26. South Tahoe officers said at first the suspect gave a false name.
Officer Chris Webber recognized Liska’s name as that of the suspect in an active criminal case he had investigated in May involving a local vehicle burglary. In that vehicle burglary, a check was stolen, forged and passed for cash at a South Lake Tahoe bank.
Liska is a convicted felon from Alaska.
Officers said when they searched Liska and his vehicle they found the stolen firearm, ammunition, metal knuckles, an illegal spring-loaded knife, a sap (a sap is weapon which is typically a flat-profiled, leather-covered lead rod, fitted with a spring handle, and is a felony to possess in California), marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

thank goodness for getting another gun loving whacko off the streets of our community.
So you can do a story on something that nobody cares about. But you cant do a story on a raid that was conducted in SLT by an out of town PD on a home that was vacant a being shown to buyers. Its scary how much reckless authority was used in this incident. Now the mortgage company must repair the damage created by the Citrus Heights P.D. to sell the house. Worst of all it was on a hunch that they destroyed that home and it turned out to be a very big mistake that Laketahoenews.net is failing to report to the public.
Thank goodness the SLTPD got another felon who unlike a law-abiding gun owner doesn’t follow the law. He was “allegedly” in possession of illegal weapons, a felon in possession of a firearm, transporting a firearm with improperly stored ammunition and drugs.
He is just a wacko who cannot follow rules, laws or the normal social contract we all live.
Nature: I would presume from your comment that you are an “anti gun loving whacko”.
The article only gives information that the man is a criminal from another State, that he had in his possession items which as a convicted felon he is forbidden from having, and that he is a suspect in a local investigation.
Maybe he loves knives and brass knuckles and the “sap” and marijuana too.
Attack his criminal behavior, attack the drugs if he had them in his system but not one of several inanimate objects in his car.
John, this article should be important to everyone in this community. It is good to know the people out there like this are being apprehended. Anyone know what this guy’s felony conviction was for?
As for the other incident you mention, a news report would be appreciated. I don’t see that the Tribune has covered it either. Unless I missed it.
