Attempts to resuscitate a 13-year-old girl who had stopped breathing at Camp Sacramento were unsuccessful.

El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies were called to the area along Highway 50 in the American River canyon about 10:40pm on July 26.

The girl was taken by ambulance to Barton Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 12:30 this morning.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy. The family has requested the name of the of the teen not be released.
