Good to know that no one was hurt. I saw the CHP working the section of road between Camp Richardson and the end of the four-lane on 89 yesterday. Saw a CHP make a U-tun across two double lines to pull into the parking on the side of the road near the bridge. It was in moderate traffic. No emergency, just getting into position to use his radar. Any civilian would have gotten a ticket for that U-turn.

I saw this accident from the bus stop yesterday and do not recall seeing lights or hearing sirens…

Is this the same place where the FS truck hit the Motor home last month?

I don’t know about the lights but I heard the siren and the collision from my front yard.

We need to get louder sirens-perhaps the type used in Europe. Very annoying but very effective. These two recent accidents involving government vehicles shows just how ineffective our sirens are. I hope all parties involved in the accident are OK.

I heard from a witness that the police car was stopped at the intersection and simultaneously turned on his lights and siren as he pulled into the intersection. The truck didn’t have a chance to stop.

That’s what I heard from an eye-witness too. But, modern vehicles now-a-days are so sound proof that you can’t hear anything anyway.

SLT police Department should be paying for the guys truck and boat. It was the cops fault. But thats not how its going to work out is it.

I was turning right on to highway 89 when it happened, I was in the yield lane in front of TJ Max. From my perspective the cop drove straight out through the intersection and the poor guy in the truck had no where to go. Honestly, I don’t think the guy in the truck even saw him. The police officer hit his siren one pulse, but the siren wasn’t completely on, neither were his lights. In my opinion it was the cops fault. I could see the cop in his car smack the driving wheel after he got railed. In my opinion the accident could have been prevented, seemed like an unnecessary risk by the cop. Anyway, glad everyone’s OK…
