Tom McClintock, R-Granite Bay, is sponsoring a public forum on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s proposal to list the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog and the northern distinct population segment of the mountain yellow-legged frog as endangered species, the Yosemite toad as a threatened species, and designate critical habitat of these species.

The forum is Aug. 6 at 2pm at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds, Sierra Building, 220 Southgate Drive, Sonora.

Presenting information on the proposed listing will be:

· Mike Applegarth, El Dorado County.

· Kelly Wooster, Calaveras County.

· Randy Hanvelt, Tuolumne County.

· Steve Brink, forester.

· Mark Baird, Siskiyou County.

· Alex Pitts, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

McClintock will be joined by Rep. Devin Nunes and staff members from other congressional offices whose constituents would be impacted by the designations.

Aren’t there more important issues for these people to be working on ?

What would God say about our unwillingness to protect his creation? Are we so poor, suffer such hardships, that we can’t save these tiny masterpieces of his making?

I am not an advocate of eliminating a species from the earth, But subspecies of Insects, reptiles and Mammals have been coming and going since the begging of time.

Gus, you bring up a good points about the potential moral imperative that comes from scripture and the concept of stewardship which is inconsistently followed (or conveniently ignored) by many believers.
The bigger picture is that the amphibians are indicator species.
Louis CK has a great bit about what would happen if the angry sky man came down to earth to take an inventory of the assets he left for his creation. It is profane, so I won’t link to it. I do recommend it.
‘why don’t you just eat the food that I left for you all over the ground?!’
‘uhhh, because its not like… wrapped in bacon’

Tom may have in mind that some 30% of the great San Joaquin Valley was turned from America’s breadbasket into a dust bowl, for the sake of some minnow in the Delta. Nice to save critters where we can. But too many idealists in power decide to do so at unlimited costly consequences to innocent powerless folks just trying to run a farm or in this case some concession stand or a host of human facilities in Yosemite. Tom has been on top of what almost seems to have been a movement in the last several years to remove virtually all humans from Yosemite. Some nice intentions to reduce human impact, but with the all too typical overreach.

Gus, why don’t we discuss the moral imperative over a nice steak dinner or maybe lamb chops.

anything that has Tom McClinticks (no mispelling here) name associated with it is a farce from the start and his credability is so bad that it will truly be a waste of time for anyone to be involved. He is like Helen Chenowith from Idaho, a truly evil person. Karma will be in his future
