Volunteers needed to count bald eagles

Volunteers are needed for the Jan. 10 bald eagle count in Lake Tahoe.

No experience required.

Tahoe Institute for Natural Sciences is the lead agency for the count.

There are 30 observation spots around the lake.

    Interesting story in the news recently about 20+ bald eagles dying of West Nile Virus in Utah within the last month by virtue of eating the carcasses of thousands of dead grebes whom had died of WNV. That’s a new wrinkle in the transmission cycle of WNV not involving the primary vector of the pathogen, the Culex tarsalis species of mosquito.
