• Royal Gorge will temporarily close its cross country ski trails beginning on Jan. 8 due to a lack of snow.

• Lake Tahoe’s California Assemblyman Frank Bigelow, R-O’Neals, was named vice chair of the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
