The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency in its role as the Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization has $600,000 in grant money to dole out.

The On Our Way Community Grant Program is designed to help Lake Tahoe organizations and local governments improve walking and biking or support economic vitality.

Up to a maximum of $200,000 will be given per request.

The On Our Way grants are part of the Lake Tahoe Sustainable Communities Program which lays out strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through projects like pedestrian and bike trails that provide alternatives to auto transportation, and that also improve economic and community well-being.

Proposals are due March 14. Details are available online.

Has the multi-use (walk & bike path) from the Meyers or the airport to Stateline been funded yet?

Would be great to provide automatic bike rental stations as you find in Paris and DC and elsewhere. Pick up anywhere return anywhere
    Pay a small use fee.

The most dangerous piece of road I can think of for road riding in SLT is the section from South Tahoe High School to Mountain View Estates. On New Years Day this year I came across a vehicle vs bicycle accident at the corner of Tahoe Mtn Road and Lake Tahoe Blvd in this section. All that is really needed is a white line in from the shoulder and a “share the road” sign in both directions. The asphalt is wide enough to support the technology. They have been proposing expensive alternatives for a few years now, but I guess someone has to die first. They just raised the speed limit to 55 so the cages could have better races.

How about 35 cents toward a bus to Meyers ?! … Oh I forgot we’re catering toward Carson and Gardnerville first!
