A project on the South Shore is part of the $138 million allocated this week by the California Transportation Commission.

The money will fund 32 projects that are designed to improve highways, bridges, and passenger rail and further strengthen the state’s economy.

The $13.7 million coming to Lake Tahoe will provide improvements to the drainage facilities on Highway 89 between Highway 50 and Cascade Road in South Lake Tahoe. This project will replace drainage systems, install sand traps and replace an existing arch culvert with a box culvert.

The allocations include approximately $25 million from Proposition 1B, a transportation bond approved by voters in 2006. The remaining $113 million in allocations came from assorted transportation accounts funded by state and federal dollars.
