cvs• CVS has decided to stop selling cigarettes.

• On Feb. 20, the Outpatient Laboratory on South Avenue will move to 1067 Fourth St., (the former Tahoe Women’s Care Building) in South Lake Tahoe.

• Tahoe Rim Trail Association and Cabela’s of Reno are presenting an equestrian first aid and nutrition seminar on March 5 at 6pm at Cabela’s, 8650 Boomtown Garson Road, Verdi. The topic on March 19 at 6pm is equines on the TRT.

• There will be a meeting Feb. 13 at 5:30pm to discuss the Brickelltown streetscape at council chambers at 10183 Truckee Airport Road, Truckee. For more info, call (530) 582.2938.

• South Lake Tahoe library is starting a bilingual book club. Ages 10-14 will meet at 3pm March 7-May 2. Books will be provided for free.

    Way to go CVS. Cigarettes and other tobacco products are horrible and should be banned everywhere. I have burried too many family and friends from the devistating effects of tobacco addiction. I hope other stores follow your lead with this choice.

    I also commend CVS for this move. It seems incongruous to call yourself a pharmacy while selling products known for lethal and/or addictive properties. I guess that means they should stop selling alcohol, too. And candy and chips and cookies and ice cream. Oh dear….

    Maybe they should change their name. ;-)
