There needs to be a day-care place for people with dementia and related issues. There is nothing at SLT yet… There are others around SLT who are somewhat functional, but can’t drive or may get lost due to memory impairment. We need to think about getting a program in place supported by a grant or ???
Irish…I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately such a center does not fit into TahoeSouth’s “if you build it they will come” marketing strategy.
No what is doesn’t fit into is the “I don’t want to give a dime in taxes for critical services to anyone but ME!” mentality.
Lisa…I don’t disagree with your assessment, but I think it goes beyond that. it is not JUST a ‘no tax’ thing, it’s also a marketing image thing.
If they admit there is a problem it tarnishes their ‘America’s playground’ mirage. Can’t have dirty, deranged, damaged-(who no doubt are getting fat living the high life on the fruits of the wealthy’s labor) imperfect looking people in full view of the tourists with their dollars.
This is my friends daughter. My heart goes out to him and his family!
@Rich…My apologies. I was being sarcastic regarding my assessment of Tahoe’s brand-imaging. It was not intended to express disdain for people with mental health issues, it was meant to satirize Tahoe’s intentional myopia regarding them. It was an insensitive comment, I am sorry. My heart goes to her and her family too, and I pray she shows up safe.
