Come October, Macau’s casinos won’t smell the same.

The special administrative region government last month told its resort operators that smoking will be banned on mass-market gaming floors starting Oct. 6.

Here’s the surprise: Macau’s six casino operators — including MGM Resorts International, Wynn Resorts Ltd. and Las Vegas Sands Corp. — asked for the prohibition.

The ban doesn’t include Macau’s private gaming rooms. Casinos can build smoking rooms on the gaming floors, which have their own heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. But the rooms can’t include table games or slot machines.

Interesting, you’re concerned with smoking in China …

Yet you report nothing about the crisis with all the kids streaming over the boarders – without their parents, young kids, real young… how many are dying out there crossing the boarder?
How many are being abused by bandits and scoundrels … ?

And of course why are they coming?

Yet cigs in China casinos makes it to your pages.

I stated earlier that 25% of Chinese are smokers..This is just an official figure found on line. I believe it to be vastly incorrect. This figure includes men an women. Most Chinese gamers are men. The smoking figure is more like 70% for male gamers. Stop the ludicrous smoking ban in Macau. I for one will no longer frequent a casino in which I cannot smoke whilst playing slots. Macau will not miss my money, but it sure will miss mass avoidance due to the ban. I do hope that the bars will still allow smoking, otherwise they will not sell any liquor…as most regular drinkers are indeed smokers.
