Vernon “Cody” Mathews, 23, has not been heard from since June 6.

Mathews was dropped off at the family cabin in the Ice House area June 4. His mother spoke with him via telephone June 6 just before he went for a hike.

Mathews was staying at the cabin alone. He has no vehicle and his personal belongings are still at the cabin.

He is 6-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs between 160 and 220 pounds. He has shoulder length strawberry blond hair and a full red beard. It is not known what he was last wearing.

There is no indication of foul play, however Mathews’ cell phone has not been used since June 6.

Search and Rescue teams from Placer, Nevada, Sacramento and Douglas counties are assisting in the search. Canine units, horse mounted units, off road vehicle units and ground units are being used.
