Extra patrols to enforce rules on USFS beaches
U.S. Forest Service personnel are doing what they can to not have a repeat of last Fourth of July when Ski Beach on the South Shore nearly became a riot scene.
To help the regular law enforcement officers, five California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and five El Dorado County probation officers will be assisting with patrols. They will be dispersed this weekend starting July 4 at all the USFS beaches.
Officers will be making sure everyone is abiding by the rules, which includes cracking down on underage drinking.
A local conservative said that this is part of a big government conspiracy and that they are just trying to justify making us pay more money.
My teen was on Ski Beach last year and it really was almost a riot. What a cluster that was. How does a family oriented, patriotic holiday turn into such a disgusting display of fighting drunks, stoners and stripper pole dancers on one of America’s most beautiful lakes? To each his own, but when it comes to disturbing other people’s peace, that is not keeping it to yourself.

I agree with vtto tahoe, this is no longer a holiday for being aware of our country and our freedoms, its a drunken, stoner, bad behavior day that often turns into trouble with the law and your neighbors. I feel sorry for the dogs that get drug to the beach and hidden under towels to avoid getting ticketed, the kids that have to endure hearing horrible language by people with limited vocabulary skills or brain activity, and adults who really should just stay home and spare us all the theatrics. But I guess this is still the good ol USA so party on…
Self entitled, disrespectful, bottom of the gene pool morons is what they are. I bet half or more can’t even spell Fourth correctly, not to mention what the Fourth is really all about.
