All must have gone well with the fireworks on the 4th which is great news. Didn’t hear anything about litter on the beach. Nice job South Lake Tahoe.

Umm, Rhino. There were Tons of garbage picked up on the beaches by a lot of volunteers. The producers of the “show” had a cleanup crew in boats and on shore. Quite frankly, most of the garbage was from the so called “visitors” that came to see the show. I say so called, because if anyone, friend or family, were to come to my home and unload garbage on a similar scale, well they would not be welcomed to return.

Tourists don’t care. Someone else will clean up after them. Pathetic creatures/slobs.

I always find it interesting that when people bash tourist they seem to generalize about their behavior lumping them all into one category.

Food for thought: Whether it be as a good, bad, or indifferent tourist, just about all of us have or will fall into the tourist category at some point in our lives.

    Doc:

I think your generalized reference to tourists as “Pathetic creatures/slobs” is not only rude but it’s ill-informed. I’m pretty certain that not every tourist that visits our community is out there trashing our beaches and this type of broad-brush insult isn’t very conducive to bringing back the kind of people that do respect our beaches, lake, and community. And those individuals having no respect: they will come back no matter what anyone says about them and they will continue to trash the place.

I think this Sunday we get our beaches back in SLT, no parking meters or tickets at the El Dorado or Lakeside beaches. Happy safe and sane Labor Day!!!
