South Tahoe ready to start holiday season
The third annual Light up South Lake Tahoe is Dec. 6.
The procession starts at 6pm at Stateline and concludes at the Shops at the Y with a tree lighting, hot cocoa, cookies and pictures with Santa.
Business owners located on Highway 50 are encouraged to decorate their storefronts with holiday lights and turn them on as the procession of the decorated fire truck, police vehicles and snowplow drive past on Highway 50.
Anyone may decorate their vehicle and follow behind the procession.
For whatever reasons more businesses and homes seem to be joining in to make Tahoe twinkle this year. It seems like it is catching on more and more. Perhaps it is a feeling of participation, or an expression of celebration of the holidays and winter arriving? For me and most people I know there is little doubt it is a presentation of our town in a positive happy way. Places like Marvin Gardens in Hot Springs Arkansas go so far into the magical there are tens of thousands of visitors that walk thru the millions of lights and cannot believe their eyes!
Now that we have our lighting along 50 there will be an effort to hang beautiful wreaths lit up to welcome guests to the Lake? Wonder if that will come up on the agenda?
Enjoy the season and plug in a string or two to show your support.
i sure hope my tax money is not being spent by the fire dept. in celebration of a religious holiday.
