2 businesses accused of underage alcohol sales
Employees at two South Lake Tahoe businesses are accused of selling alcohol to minors.
Miguel Mancillas working at Alpine Liquors and Daniel Marshall of Chevy’s restaurant were cited Dec. 5 by South Lake Tahoe police officers. They face a minimum fine of $250, and/or 24 to 32 hours of community service if convicted and this is their first violation.
In addition, ABC can take administrative action against the alcoholic beverage license of the business. That may include a fine, a suspension of the license, or the permanent revocation of the license.
Minors working under the supervision of officer attempted to purchase alcohol from 33 establishments in the city.
Officers said they are doing the compliance checks to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors because statistics show people under the age of 21 have a higher rate of drunken driving fatalities than the general adult population.

My daughter was sited for a similar sting by ABC in the summer and she was told ABC told the owners of the business they had to fire her. Which they did after keeping her for nearly 3 months after the “sting”. (There is still such a thing as an honest mistake) Then, she was denied unemployment. The problem isn’t necessarily the people that sold to underage agents but that some of them (employees) have never been properly trained to identify ID’s. Employer’s should be responsible too for training as well as the person who sold to an undercover agent.
Yup KC. I agree 100%.
Kc, the employers liability can be even worst, they can lose their liquor licence as well as hefty fines,
Entrapment. Pure and simple.
KC, Did your daughter ask for an I.D. ? If so, and it said the buyer was 21 and had their picture on it, seems like she was innocent. If she didn’t ask, her mistake and she suffers the consequences.
