Sierra-at-Tahoe opened today at noon.

While the South Shore received only a dusting of snow out of this storm, the Echo Summit area ski resort received 15 inches overnight.

Grandview and Easy Rider chairlifts are running, servicing seven runs. With the limited terrain, come discounted prices.

I guess Heavenly has been digging out all the 3″ of snow they got–since they’ve been closed the last two days. Or maybe they are on wind hold? yup, they must be on wind hold since we have gusts of up to 5 mph. Way to go Sierra!!! at least there’s one resort that’s not afraid to open!!!! If you look at Heavenly’s blog from Thursday there is a picture of snow covered trees, then you look at the web cam for the snow-stake and there’s nothing–zero. Looks like someone in Marketing is good at pulling up old photo’s!!

heavenly is having electrical problems, plus a tree was blown over on dipper lift so they have to make sure it is safe

Kirkwood opened chair 6 today. Given the dismal snow totals we trudged out there expecting nothing spectacular. It actually went off! Dropped some nice airs and chased a jackrabbit the size of a dog. Nice pow turns all day.
