The South Lake Tahoe City Council will have a budget workshop at council chambers inside Lake Tahoe Airport to discuss the 2009-10 budget. The fiscal year begins Oct. 1, but the budget won’t be adopted until after that date.

IRIE Rafting and Lake Tahoe Central Adventures sponsor the 2nd Annual Fish Food Fundraiser to raise money for Dolphin Anti-Rape and AIDS Control Outreach. Dolphin’s vision is a Kenya free from sexual violence where all women, girls and children are provided the basic safety and liberty to work, study and play without fear. To get involved locally, organize groups of four to participate in a Scavenger Hunt and Downriver Race on the Lower Truckee River. Teams will be outfitted with rafts, paddles, PFDs, helmets and one professionally trained guide per boat as they race against the clock and each other to accumulate prizes donated by local businesses and individuals. Meet at the IRIE Rafting/Lake Tahoe Central Adventures office at the corner of Highway 89 and Squaw Valley Road, Tahoe City, $100 per boat.
