Clean-up day in Incline

Incline Village Community Clean Up Day is June 5 from 10am-noon at D.W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center, 948 Incline Way, Incline Village.

Participants of all ages are welcome, however children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The Incline Village Community Clean Up Day is part of The Great Tahoe to Truckee Community Clean Up, a regionwide community clean up taking place in neighborhoods all over the Truckee-Tahoe North Shore on June 5.

Wagon Train to roll through Tahoe

Annual Highway 50 Wagon Train through the South Shore of Lake Tahoe is June 5-13.

This is a historical reenactment of the Great Western Migration. Take a step back through the portals of time and relive the adventures and rigors of the early pioneers as they forged their way west.

• Motorists may want to avoid driving around Lake Tahoe the morning of June 6 because America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride is that day.

• The 2010 North Lake Tahoe Travel Planner, a collaborative marketing piece of the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, won a gold ADDY Award in the Collateral Marketing Category. Smith + Jones, the advertising agency of record for North Lake Tahoe, and HD96, both headquartered in Incline Village, officially took home the award.

• Adam Bradley, who set a Pacific Crest Trail speed record with Scott Williamson last summer, will give a free talk about the experience June 2 from 6:30-8pm at REI, 2225 Harvard Way, Reno.

• June 12 is Free Fishing Day in Nevada. The statewide event allows anglers to fish in any public fishing water in the state without a fishing license or trout stamp, while all limits and other regulations apply. Visit www.ndow.org to find out about local events.

Weekend worth of car washes in South Lake

If the weather holds, there will be two car washes in South Lake Tahoe this weekend.

Club Live will have its 17th annual Memorial Weekend Car Wash on Saturday from 9am-4pm at the LTUSD Bus Garage on Al Tahoe Boulevard across from the Rite Aid Shopping Center. Club Live promotes a healthy lifestyle by providing high energy alternative activities.

PAL (Police Activities League) will have a car wash May 31 from 8am-4pm at Tahoe Quik Lube, 2513 Lake Tahoe Blvd., across from Swiss Chalet). Money raised is for field trips.




Library storytime moves to Lampe Park

The Douglas County Public Library will move its storytime to Lampe Park on June 2.

It will continue every Wednesday at 10:30am through Aug. 25.

Shop at the farmers market while your children listen to stories in the park. Children age 3 and up are invited to attend. The program includes stories, music, and crafts.

Barton memorial wreath unveiling

Each May we are given a day to honor those we have loved and lost. This year, the Barton Foundation along with volunteers from Barton Hospice will be assembling wreaths of ribbons to pay tribute to those dearly missed.

Ribbons from the South Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley communities have been received to remember those we have loved and lost. Two wreaths will be created using the ribbons; one for the Carson Valley Medical Center and the other for Barton Memorial Hospital. Both wreaths will be on display throughout the year.

A special wreath dedication ceremony will be at Barton Memorial Hospital and Carson Valley Medical Center on May 28 at 11am in the respective lobbies.

Fuels reduction meeting

There will be a public meeting June 3 at 6pm at Hidatsa Court in Lake Valley Fire District to discuss the upcoming fuels reduction project that will be going on in the neighborhood.

Agencies will include CalFire, California Tahoe Conservancy, Lake Valley Fire District and Nevada Fire Safe Council.

Eating and giving to charity at the same time is what Taste of Tahoe is all about.

Bistro Danielle is this week’s restaurant that is donating a portion of profits to the South Shore’s Relay for Life. The offer is good through Saturday.
