Fedora bank bandit strikes again

The fedora bandit is moving north. He hit the Bank of the West in Gridley in Butte County on Monday afternoon.

The man who wears a fedora, sometimes a fake beard and sometimes brandishes a weapon has stolen cash twice at the Bank of the West in Grass Valley on Dec. 22 and March 31, from South Lake Tahoe on Feb. 18, Kings Beach on March 8 and Carson City on April 12.

Burger night benefits STHS performing arts

South Tahoe High School Burger Night at the Red Hut on Ski Run Boulevard is April 30 from 5-7pm.

The event benefits the South Tahoe High School Performing Arts Booster Association.

Dinner includes a burger (veggie available) homemade chips, beverage and a sundae or root beer float.

Tickets are $10. They can be purchased at the door or from students enrolled in art, music or acting classes. Orders to-go can be placed by calling (530) 544.1595. Tickets are good only on April 30.

• North Tahoe Public Utility District has launched a website featuring North Tahoe parks, including North Tahoe Regional Park, local beaches, boat launches, and bike trails. The district has revamped its own website, too.

• The door continues to revolve at a restaurant near the South Lake Tahoe Y. It was a bakery then a Chinese restaurant and is about to be a Thai restaurant.

• Christmas Cheer has moved to 1120 Third St. in South Lake Tahoe.

ltusdKindergarten registration for Lake Tahoe Unified School District is May 10-14. The child must be 5 on or before Dec. 2, 2010.

California Law requires that:

1. You bring child’s birth certificate;

2. You bring proof of immunizations, which includes the Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B and for most children – the last booster shot.

3. Your child has a health examination upon entry to school [schedule with your family doctor or El Dorado County Health Department at (530) 573.3155.

4. Your child has an oral health examination upon entry to school (or signed waiver) (dental examinations that have occurred in the last 12 months meet this requirement)

5. You bring proof of California residency.

‘Keep Tahoe Kind’ event

Establish Pet Safety and Wildlife Harmony in Your Home and Yard is a free “Keep Tahoe Kind” event sponsored by the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A.

It is May 8 at the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library Meeting Room at 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.

Exhibits are from 2-4pm; the program is from 2:30-3:30pm.

Shuttle delivers travelers from Sac airport to South Tahoe

airportAdventure travelers and wine lovers can now enjoy an easier way to travel to and from Sacramento International Airport.

The Gateway Express Shuttle provides direct ground transportation service to South Lake Tahoe and the Napa Valley. The schedule includes four trips per day to the Wine Country and two to Tahoe.

Gateway Express Shuttle service is part of the airport’s commitment to serve as the gateway to Northern California. Napa and Tahoe bound passengers no longer need to rent a car to reach the two destinations. Napa Valley and South Lake Tahoe and residents can leave their cars behind when traveling for business or pleasure.
