The Certifying Commission in Medical Management recently designated Clint Purvance as a certified physician executive.
Purvance is chief medical officer for Barton Memorial Hospital and Barton Health.
CCMM awarded Purvance the status for his educational achievements, demonstrated stature as a physician and experience in the field of medical management.
Lake Tahoe Community College’s bookstore opens today as a Barnes & Noble college bookstore.
It’s online as well at http://ltcc.bncollege.com.
The remodeled retail outlet in the main building of the South Lake Tahoe college is designed to provide students with more options, with less expense. It’s also a resource for the entire community. After all, it is the South Shore’s only bookstore that sells new periodicals.
The state of California is beginning to honor its financial obligations to Lake Tahoe Unified School District when it comes to providing matching funds for school facilities.
Last week, $5.98 million was deposited for the Green Academy at South Tahoe High School.
The district continues to wait for the $4.3 million for the other CTE projects (Media/Design Arts/Performing Arts); and the ORG money for STHS and South Tahoe Middle School.

On Dec. 1, Embassy Suites South Lake Tahoe will receive the Good Earthkeeping award for a large property from the California Hotel & Lodging Association.
The luncheon is in San Francisco.
As a winner, Embassy is automatically entered in the national competition.
St. Theresa School is have a Baked Potato Bingo fundraiser on Nov. 21 to raise money for eighth-graders to go to Washington, D.C.
The event is being emceed by comedian Howie Nave.
The potato bar opens in Grace Hall at the South Lake Tahoe church at 4pm; with the first game of bingo starting at 5pm.
There is a $10 minimum buy-in for Bingo Packet which is good for 10 games; its $2 for Kid Bingo
More than $500 in prizes have been donated from local businesses.
Raffle items include a 19-inch flat screen TV.
Beer and wine are not included in the price.
Tickets are available from any eighth-grade student, at the front office of Saint Theresa School at 1081 Lyons Ave., or at the door.
